ITT: Adaptations that are better than their source material

ITT: Adaptations that are better than their source material.

it really is

but, being this a film board, why should you care for the source anyway?

LotR

End your life OP

nuh uh the plastic halloween alien prop was more philosophical!!!

True. Everything wrong with the movie was even worst in the retarded comic book

Game of Thrones

I know all memes are supposed to be shit but this "Zak Snyder isn't a complete retard" one makes Baneposting look like Beethoven.

>even worst

That was my first thought.

What the fuck is going on with this image?
I mean it looks like her torso is bent 90 degrees

American Dubs was better than the book.

Same here

How is it better?

When you aren't fat you can do things like turn your body and breathe with your mouth closed.

Salutation Redditation!

yes

I think Watchmen isn't better, the graphic novel is far more complex especially in the context of it's release in 1986.

The only movie that I've seen that is better then the source is Fight Club. Sure I'll be labeled an edge lord but even chuck palahniuk agrees that it was a better, simpler story in the movie.

Shingeki No Kyojin and Legend of the galactic heroes animes, sorry manga fags.

...

>amerifats

Personally I think that if an adaptation conveys the same story with the same depth and feeling as the source, it is often better. Brevity ain't easy, and I think an adaptation that is as good as the source, but many hours more succinct is better.

...

Yah lol, and where are the rest of her chins? Did they photoshop them out?

...

...

>picture unrelated

And I love Roald Dahl. Anderson basically turned it into an epic.

Came to post this

...

...

...

I think fight club movie makes a crazy structured book into a nice organized film. But the one thing they fucked up in the movie was the mechanic. He was supposed to drive the car into traffic, and be a somewhat significant background character

Fucking this.

...

All of them made by Vaugn are.

thank you

...

...

i actually liked the 80's tv series. are the movies any good?

...

fuck, this triggers me hard. 8/10 bait

...

yes both of them are fantastic action-comedies

considering how most comedies these days fall flat, it's impressive how good 21 and 22 jump street are.

...

is true, though

Matthew Vaugn's pretty good at adaptations.

Absolutely this.

...

No it isn't

The Dark Tower

Not even close to a true adaptation.

...

...

...

every Harry Potter flick

sorry

the shining

yup

They're pretty equal, it's the same story, not much changed iirc. But yeah, I guess it's easier/ takes less time to just watch it. Plus, Rosamund Pike.

BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

YES!!!

...

the squid was dumb

For you.

...

You're dumb

agreed

Better than the old movie, but I woulnd't say it's better than the book.

I can't even imagine how bad the source is if that movie was better

...

definitely! that comic sucked shit compared to the movie.

are you somehow implying baneposting isnt the beethoven of memes?

More like the Dandy Warhols of memes, in that it's everywhere and you really don't know why.

Allyourbase is the Beethoven of memes

>Le space squid was so dumb xDDDD pls upvote

What's great about this movie is that it uses all of the original Shakespearean dialogue, but just puts it in a modern setting to make it more accessible to kids

That's great in my opinion because Shakespeare is an amazing writer but kids will too readily dismiss him as being historical and boring. But kids love guns. So Shakespeare + guns = win

>from the visionary director of moulan rouge
what happened with him? was he really better than shakespeare?

The only real correct answers I can think of are;
>The Shining
>Fight Club
>The Godfather

And for television;
>Game of Thrones

The last one is not trolling, I honestly think they have improved on the books by cutting stuff like Lady Stonehart and Darkstar.

No, I'm just saying the movie was good because it preserved Shakespeare's proper dialogue, which is what make his plays so great. It would have been so easy to make the dialogue more modern / understandable because obviously his older form of language is confusing for newcomers / people who aren't paying attention. And that would have been a fucking crime. It would have made it pleb tier trash. But no, luhrmann kept the original dialogue but just changed the setting to the modern day, so plebs could understand the play that way, and hopefully then appreciate the beauty of the text

>le elf visiting and pretentious exclamation narration filler
the books fucked around too much

>funeral
>"hello darkness my old friend..."
BRAVO SNYDER

I like Romeo + Juliet but I hate Baz Luhrmann in general. His movies are like meth fueled fever dreams. It feels like my eyes are being raped by color and movement.

The music was the worst part of this film.
>99 Luftballoons starts playing for no reason, then awkwardly fades out 15 seconds later

Never Let Me Go was a shitfest of a film. It was, however, leagues better than the book.

It had a decent soundtrack but whoever decided to look for music to license fucked it all up.

>Rorschach and night owl fly out to confront Adrian in the film's grand finale.
>Jimi Hendrix

99 luftballons was not out of place at all in that film. i thought the music was good. i could have done without the jimi hendrix but other than that it was great.
