Is making live action movies out of anime going to be the hot new trend to replace capeshit? If so what anime is next after GiTS for a movie?

Who would you cast in it?

>implying anyone will respond if the thread isn't shitposting
This is Sup Forums with movies op. Fuck off

The next inevitable adaption after GitS

It would probably end up being garbage but i would love to see a live action Black Lagoon movie. Shit the series is already inspired by western action and crime movies so it could transition well.

Hell yea. But who would play Revy?

Better question. Who could convincingly play Revy?

You're kidding, right? We're looking for built-in audiences and guaranteed bank. GTFO of here with your neato cartoons, undisputed hottest ip coming through.

Honestly I can't think of anyone that could play her, especially play her well

It can't be worse than capeshit. I'm okay with this.

Ghost in the Shell, Death Note. It truly is the dawn of animekino.

...

>chinese cartoons
>can't be worse than capeshit
Are you retarded?

At least this shit is more original. Every capeshit is about the same crap.

this

Well, they already announced a Fullmetal Alchemist adaptation. Not to mention, there's quite a few projects that have been stuck in development hell. HBO's adaptation of Noaki Urasawa's Monster would be cool to see if done right.

The adaptation of Akira can STAY in development hell for all I care. It's way too easy to ruin.

It's more original up to the point that you see the same tired tropes used in anime over and over. They lose their shock value.

Not saying there aren't a stupid amount of great settings and arcs though.

Back in a day, Gina Gershon

FMA doesn't count. It's just some cheap Japanese movie.

I could see it for sure.

This. If the 80s-90s nostalgia movies continue to do well, expect to see adaptations of series that were popular in the 90s so you can get those multiple demographics in the theater. Or has high name recognition already.

See: Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball/DBZ

Other contenders: Cowboy Bebop, Ghibli movies, whatever is popular with kids now (Naruto/Bleach/One Piece)

>Cowboy Bebop movie
Don't get my hopes up like that user

Side question: would this age of animekino, as user put it, make anime a normal thing?

Anime is a normal thing.

i'm pretty sure Rian Johnson only agreed to Star Wars Episode VIII so he could get studio funding for a live-action Cowboy Bebop film

he's wanted to make it forever. even told JGL to base his performance in BRICK on Spike

Not a chance. Anime is still "that thing for weirdos" as I heard one girl put it.

Ah. I only heard they were making a live action FMA movie. Didn't know it was going to be made in Japan.

It's on Netflix, it's a normal thing.

People like comic book movies but they aren't exactly flocking to actual comic books

>Director = Gareth Evans (The Raid 1 and 2)
>Revy = Mila Kunis
>Dutch = Morris Chestnut
>Rock = Steven Yeun
>Benny = Nicholas Hoult

best i could come up with

I want this movie to suck and/or bomb. Hollywood needs to start using original concepts and stop fucking with already established IPs.

God I hope not

there's also swedish softcore porn and new french extremity on netflix

what is your point

fucking jews stop ruining everything

Judi dench as sister Yolanda.

Popular anime maybe. I bet most people wouldn't consider Yugioh or especially Pokemon to be "anime".

fuck i see it

idris elba

>ruining anime
It can be only improved.

Right? She's got the sexy bad bitch look perfected.

oh god thats to fucking perfect

Do it

I honestly can't think of a better cast.

Still thinking of Balalaika and Eda though.

Anime is the best when it's inspired by Western fiction.

HBO Lupin the 3rd Limited Series

Robin Wright as Balalaika
Ali Larter as Eda

I can't even fucking imagine who could play Roberta

...

Unironically a Gundam would make a great adaptation, since audiences have already been warmed to giant robots and space colonies.

Add in Americas love of gritty war films, fighting terrorists, and space nazis, and it would be a hit.

Elena Anaya?

Only if GITS is a success.

If it turns out well, pic related should be next.

I think the result of Pacific Rim bodes well for mecha. People liked it.

I could see it. She definitely has the acting chops for it

How about Shenhua and Sawyer?

Hellsing is shit.

>Shenhua
That's going to be tough.
>Sawyer
Even tougher.

You know who's really going to be difficult? The Twins.

>Shenhua
Gong Li.

they already did all you need is kill
does this mean cameron will make battle angel now?

Good choice. Sawyer...hmm

Probably not having a teen actor for that kind of role. Short woman actor.

it's self aware. you're not meant to get caught up in the main character acting bad ass, it's satire.

plus the preacher guy is funny as fuck. who wouldn't want to see him come to life in live action.

it has the potential to be a self aware gothic movie.

Honestly there's a fine line. If they keep all the weird-ass jap weeaboo shit, nobody except autists will watch it, and it will be an artistic and commercial failure. If they change enough to make it appeal to normal people, like say Edge of Tomorrow, then it will work.

GiTS and Death Note are filming now. Fullmetal Alchemist is shooting next year.

Animeshit and Vidyashit are gonna eclipse capeshit.

Isn't it obvious?

It's way too obvious now that I see it. She's fucking perfect.

it's self aware. you're not meant to get caught up in the main character acting bad ass, it's satire.
holy shit that explains everything, now I somehow like it more than I did before.

not being sarcastic at all btw
