I think that's mostly because of them coming first and the villain carrying the movies. The original trilogy Spiderman honestly wasn't good enough to carry the movie on his own, like how Bale Batman is often overshadowed by his villains
At this point in my life, I realize many of ASM and ASM2's problems (especially the former), but if I had a gun to my head, I'd probably choose the original trilogy by only a tiny margin, thanks to JJJ and Doc Oc

Cant. Its like he has a cool idea then thinks of a way to get to that idea, but thats bad, everything before the idea comes into effect is dumb and boring, its just to lead to "the good part". For instance the speedo scenes could be music videos, that was his "cool idea" he had to do a bunch of lame shit to set it up though and then its just gone, lost in the rest of the movie, because each "cool idea" is just placed here and there and not actually concise and crafted to happen. It happens, then its back to trying to set up another cool thing to happen.
