agreed. worse yet this was back in the day you ended up watching it with people who wouldn't rant and rave about it. and you had to pretend to laugh else people would notice and give you shit.

Seems like Sup Forums has a hate boner for this movie, can't figure out why.

I wish I had more cringe humor and quips

It is if you were born in the 40s.

Agreed.

I tried to watch it on Netflix a few weeks ago. Couldn't get more than 10 minutes in.

yeah its bad but calling this bad is like calling game of thrones bad, the source material is something you would buy next to the checkout at a supermarket, so it was always doomed... its just that a lot of rly dumb ppl whove never read ne books or seen any good movies before are blown away by it, so it goes down as being good.

>its just that a lot of rly dumb ppl whove never read ne books

mad

If you don't like this movie , which movie do you think is funny?

>its just that a lot of rly dumb ppl whove never read ne books

It's biggest problem was that it was released several years too late. Well that and being Jews in space. It had it's moments though. It's an aquired taste like most of Mel Brooks shite.

none. they are zombies forced to constantly post in threads. Most posters on chan have been dead for hundreds of years

>We aint found SHIT!
You are a robot if u dont laugh at that scene

It used to be. Humor doesn't date well.

>Humor doesn't date well.

You mean age well?

Good try at parody, but i watched it last week and had maybe 2-3 giggles all up. It wasnt that funny.

The three stooges and Marx bros are still funny

Jew humor does not age well. Or rather, Mel Brooks humor does not age well.
You've seen one Brooks movie, you've seen them all. It may as well be a good one like High Anxiety or Young Frankenstein.

I loved young frankenstein, scared the hell out of me

literally REDDlT humor

But Mel had a better understanding of Star Wars than JJ Abrams did.

Yeah.
Slapstick doesn't count.

>all these faggots
i dont even know what to say
how can you not like this?
you dont even deserve a movie of this quality

Yeah but he said date well, opinion of Mel Brooks aside, that was the wrong word.

I did sort of like it. 2001 a space travesty is at a similar level if it worked for you

Blazing Saddles
Spaceballs has one good scene
Blazing Saddles is like that scene for 2 hours

its one of those like it or hate it movies like monty python. The people who like it are always turbo nerds though.

Has some shitty jokes, but some great ones too. The scene where Dark Helmet and Colonel Sanders are watching the film as it's happening was genius.

The internet killed comedy.

Sad but true

I laughed at the "a bunch of assholes" part and that was it. So yes, OP

Everyone pretends Mel Brooks is funny because he's a Jew or something, I've never once laughed at his shit

Fucking love this movie

You kids keep enjoying 2 Broke Girls instead if you don't like based druish movies.

>its just that a lot of rly dumb ppl whove never read ne books

correct. its very bland and overrated.
the only mel brooks movie that got some laughs out of me was blazing saddles.

Its just the era of comedy. People liked that shit back then. Im sure some of the comedys you like will not age well. Try going back and watching some older comedy movies you remember being funny as fuck but turns out you were just a dumb kid.

Overrated shit thread?
Overrated shit thread

Trying WAY too hard

It's a fine example of parody, though. Modern attempt at parody are so fucking dogshit.

Feig pls

This. The last (and final) good one was Not Another Teen Movie. That was the last time me ansd parody movies spoke as friends. I was in the light.

I just watched it a week ago and didn't strike me the way it did when I was a child.
I mean is just Bill being silly, the other two being shadowed by him and the nigger being there because "m-muh diversity". It's a bad movie with a mediocre performance for almost everyone on the cast and with a kind of silly plot.
The effects are comfy though.

>falling for bait of this level
>current year
just embarrassing.

it sounds more like you've grown into a mentality that is incapable of responding to comedy.

...

It's very much a movie of it's time. Cheesy everything, from the dialogue to the effects. A lot of the comedy in Bill comes from the fact that the word is ending and he's just as Jaded and consented as before. The black guy may have been there for diversity, but he plays the part well.

And of course it's going to have a silly plot, it's a fucking comedy.

The nigger was supposed to be Eddie Murphy. When he didn't want to do it, they reduced the role. It's not a muh diversity role.

It's not funny to YOU. There's a lot of different levels of comedy. Watch waht you like an dlet other people watch what they like.

Who knows, maybe in a few years you'll find that kind of stuff funny. People change.

>I was only pretending to be retarded

No.

The comedy just doesn't hit for me I guess. I just don't find funny all that careless act from bill. Also the black guy just doesn't do jack shit except for saying some jesus christ related shit and talking to the mayor once.
Well, too bad he didn't played it because it ended up being an unnecessary character.

>Well, too bad he didn't played it because it ended up being an unnecessary character.

Still had one of the best scenes in the movie. I fucking DARE the new one to have anything even halfway on the level as this instead of their generic Bridesmaid humor

youtube.com/watch?v=iK6hI423gcw

you

They will probably make the black sassy one say something christian related, then yell "IN THE NAME OF THE LORD" and fart while "funny one" makes a joke about earthquakes.
So daring and progressive.

The combing the desert scene still cracks me up but I'm not really partial to the rest of it.

how is this funny? i almost fell asleep

Because it's essential reddit-core.

It's way too jewish for my taste

He didn't say it was funny.

We did it Reddit, absolutely epic!

Saw this thread and remembered that awful animated series on G4

That was terrible.

This

The internet allows you to receive the highest quality humor in the world, on demand, instantly, in a great abundance. Movies cost you time (and money) and you must sit and wait for 2 hours to receive that tiny bit of 15 seconds of laughter.

And then come websites like Sup Forums. I'm actively browsing this shithole since 2007, almost 365 days a year for a couple of hours each, and I've personally witnessed the massive "culture shift" that went through here. Remember the times everyone thought gifs, trollface and edgy jokes were funny, then how the humor "evolved" into spamming pastas, then ragecommics and so on? After which everyone got bored and it "evolved" again into its next stage - meme posting, which is currently in the process of evolving into ironic shitposting.

This site's format, for some fucking reason, has allowed for a rapid culture evolution that surpasses any other. At the moment the rest of the internet is barely entering the memeposting phase, still finding gifs and pictures with text hilarious, while we're about to exit the ironic shitposting phase and discover yet another style of humor. And outside the internet, people aren't even at the meme phase yet, they're literally so far behind that they think that a line in a movie that a 12 year old could've come up with is the peak of humor.

So I'm guessing the average age of this thread is under eighteen, correct?

How contrarian do you dumb fucks have to be?

Moranis' scenes are GOAT
Everything else is cringeworthy except for some pontual stuff

27. Premise is stupid, cover looked stupid even as a 12 year old kid in a videostore, and all the clips I've seen are stupid.

so you're autistic and angry it was making fun of star wars.

What lies beyond ironic shitposting?

LEEPEST DOOR

Also, I'm calling it now, the next phase of humor will be the comfy phase. Everyone will be unironically nice to each other, but it will be some banter here and there, but nothing serious.

Hell and we won't need eyes for it. Post-ironic swhitposting

So you're autistic and angry I don't find your childish parody "humor" funny.

Protip: most people don't, because it's shit.

I didn't even watch the OT until I was like 13. Spaceballs looked like shit before then, and still looks like shit afterwards. Parody movies have never been funny, no matter what they are parodying. Parody by nature is the most brainless lazy form of comedy there is.

>all that text
>its just a "no u."

son, please.

Mel Brooks is just awful in general. Dadrock bullshit.

>not posting GOAT sci-fi farce

Agreed I love me some Mel but Spaceballs completely flat-lines for me.

Young Frankenstein > The Producers > Blazing Saddles =/= High Anxiety > Dracula: DALI >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Space Balls

>no history of the world part one

Ah shit I knew I was forgetting something.

It should be before Dracula But not before High Anxiety and Blazing Saddles

It's still a better sequel of the original trilogy than TFA.

Oh hahha i forgot to laugh, perhaps because it wasn't funny? The only thing I can think that would be more laughable than your jab at TFA would be at how small your cock is.

you seem upset.

Calm down, JJ

Tsk tsk
Disney shills are really desperate.

...

Blazing saddles is worse than spaceballs though. Gene Wilder is a hack. Everyone sucked in that film except mango. SB has a far better cast.

The issue with Spaceballs is pretty simple: parody is shit if you don't love the thing you're parodying

Mel's Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein were great because he worshiped the old Westerns and Universal monsters movies so there were tons of great subtle touches and the parody worked on a lot of levels. Same with the Zucker bros and their love for 70's disaster movies and cops shows with Airplane! and Naked Gun.

Watching Spaceballs you can tell Mel doesn't give a shit about Star Wars or that he's even seen it more than once or twice. He just picked the most popular pop culture phenomenon at the time to maximize the number of potential viewers

>Watching Spaceballs you can tell Mel doesn't give a shit about Star Wars or that he's even seen it more than once or twice.

Just like Lucas and the prequels.

you are such a little faggot you know that

Shut your fu king mouth faggot, thus movie is fantastic. You contrarian autist FUCK

>retconning plot holes into your own creation

At this point I'm ready to accept the madness

>Marx brothers
>Slapstick
Wew lad.

>mango

Mongo, dipshit

Whats the matter Colonel Sanderz... Chicken?

U straight up mad homie

Based OP. I've hated this shitty "comedy" since childhood. You're doing God's work.

It's a movie that's funny when you watch it with other people. Sounds retarded, and it is, but it's true.

It's impossible to predict, but I have that autistic urge to model everything around me and to make predictions based on that model, so I'd guess that it will be something that fits the current model for Sup Forums so far - contrarianism and elitism. Something the mainstream wouldn't get and something that will be hard to come up with at the same time.

Something that would make the rest of the "levels of humor" look pathetic and outdated, like ironic shitposting currently does to everything below it. Something to which a serious reply would be mocked by everyone else, like in the case of current shitposting. The only thing that comes to my mind and falls into all of those categories, and the model, is baitposting - the act of writing a shitpost that's intentionally written in a serious and a structured way as to invoke a serious emotion from the readers' side, and therefor a content for humor - their serious replies. Something the mainstream wouldn't understand or laugh at (as is ironic shitposting currently) and actually takes some "cultural intelligence", if you can classify it that way, to craft.

It's actually currently in its infancy and you can spot such a fine post once in a while in the most popular boards - Sup Forums, Sup Forums and Sup Forums. My prediction is that it will be pointed towards the mainstream, instead of baiting fellow browsers. Something like #cutforbieber but on steroids.

But again, organising such shit would require less mainstream exposure than Sup Forums currently has, so my other prediction is that Sup Forums is reaching its peak of being the funniest place on the net and another one will soon pop up to dethrone it, with a different style of communication - maybe not an imageboard at all. Just like in the case of of somethingawful, and Sup Forums dethroning it.

But that's just modelling history and trying to predict the future based on it - it's just the mean average. There are a lot of unpredictable peaks around it.

WEVE BEEN JAMMED

It's one of those movies that are funnier in hindsight. I pretty much never laugh when actually watching the movie, but I burst out laughing every time I try to describe it. Stuff like combing the desert and jamming the radar are legit funny, but I've never laughed at it while watching it. In fact, Spaceballs is boring to watch and I'd even go so far as to say that it's almost on the level of Kubrick flicks. It's the Clockwork Orange of parody movies.

>I'd even go so far as to say that it's almost on the level of Kubrick flicks
What do you mean by this?

If you don't think spaceballs is funny you really should just off yourself.
