You could nitpick it to death, but this is the best superhero film I've seen in a while. Why this doesn't get a pass from critics, while every two hour long Marvel advertisement does, is baffling to me. I feel bad it's not doing well and that Singer will probably get the boot. And I say this as someone who, just a few days ago, was cheering on Singer's departure from the franchise.
Hell, this is the best blockbuster I've seen in a long time.
- It's extremely cheesy - Everything is predictable - Characters are pretty one dimensional + Powers are cool + Magneto gets respect + Quicksilver steals the movie again - Quicksilver makes Apoc look like a chump + Quicksilver makes Apoc look like a chump.
Chase Taylor
I agree OP, I really enjoyed it.
8/10 for me.
Hudson White
>- Quicksilver makes Apoc look like a chump >+ Quicksilver makes Apoc look like a chump.
Ethan Harris
Yes same fag
But a more indepth discussion.
Wolverine was shoehorned in for the sake of his name. When the three could have done it themselves. He slaughters people yet no blood.
Once again Mutants start end of thw world shit and we are supposed to side with them.
Itd be nice if the world ending shit wasnt started by a mutant so that the X-Men can be seen helping people as opposed to cleaning up their own mess or hidng mutant crimea.
Yeah it was kinda hard to take him seriously as a threat after that, but damn if it waant cool as fuck to watch that.
Sebastian Reed
>He slaughters people yet no blood.
What fucking version did you see, they show a big fucking splash of blood on the wall at one point and there's soldiers in pools of blood shown as well.
Ian Rogers
I only saw the blood at the end when it was being mopped up it was kinda dark. Lighting wise
Kevin Jones
I'm just really happy that they brought him along, even if he's OP I'm happy they let him stick around because I like the actor and the character.
They could of easily told him to fuck off but Singer knew fans wanted more him as not just quicksilver doing fun stuff but as character to the story.
This movie really didn't disappoint me at all.
Luke Hernandez
It could've and should've been better, but it was actually a nice viewing experience. I would like to see more of this kind of thing. These new X-Men movies feel like live action cartoons, and that's what I want out of a capeshit movie. Like BvS and Civil War felt stupid because they were both trying to be realistic and grounded whilst the content was inherently retarded.
X-Men Apocalypse was dumb, but it wasn't insulting me by pretending that it was a realistic set of events, or even a real movie. All these comic stories and characters are stupid. I think Bryan Singer is onto something with his way of treating the material.
Colton Baker
That's right?....Mike??
Levi Harris
is that Lana Rain? What video?
Oliver Roberts
I haven't even seen it but I can tell you exactly why it's shit and you're a pleb.
Parker Rogers
(You)
Jason Lewis
I don't remember. A bunch of anons on /r9k/ sperged out and spent two days finding it, i made several reaction pics from the vid then deleted it because it was shit
Camden Ward
this nigga is in every thread
I'm impressed.
Brayden Roberts
Why, it's not like he's doing anything impressive.
Julian Peterson
Which isn't that good compared to other entries in the series. >- It's extremely cheesy This is the non-criticism of a little kid weened on Nolan movies. X-Men Apocalypse takes very silly material and engages it earnestly. It's not the manufactured sort of 'cool' most modern superhero films are, which interpret everything through banal sitcom humor or chic realism. And that is a good thing. >- Everything is predictable I had read all the spoilers beforehand, so I guess I didn't care. There is more to a film than what simply happens. >- Characters are pretty one dimensional As opposed to what exactly? The Hulk? Batman?
Camden Cruz
true, but it's the dedication that gets me.
Adam Rogers
You would have loved to have met "White Women with Asian men" guy
Lucas Wood
I actually liked this movie a shit ton more than I expected to. Found it better than even Civil War
Ayden Anderson
There was blood, but it wasn't as brutal as people keep claiming. His attacks and the deaths were exactly the same was what we saw in X2 and pretty much any wolverine film. He should have been a fucking animal completely destroying people and ripping them apart.
The point of the x-men is "hey we know some of us are bad, but we are good and protecting you!" It's to show there are good mutants and bad, just like there are good people and bad people.
Apocalypse got knocked about a bit, but it was barely hurting him. You even see him start to quicken the movements of his eyes to keep track of Quicksilver, before stopping him. We have seen how fast quicksilver is, saving an entire mansion in a couple of seconds, and now apocalypse through total control of his body is able to keep up with his movements. It shows just how dangerous and powerful apocalypse really is.
William Gray
What did Apocalypse say about the Phoenix before they messed him up? I couldn't understand him.
Brandon Collins
All is revealed.
Jonathan Sullivan
"Olisreviled" which is mutant for "Damn nigga this bitch is crazy"
Christian Kelly
>All has been revealed In the scene in the mansion he says >All will be revealed
It seems he may have known something about Phoenix.
Cameron Morgan
...
Ethan Butler
Yeah, I just looked it up. Supposedly the Phoenix's vision earlier on is about the apocalypse she'll bring about and Nur realized that at the end while getting roasted. He thought he was going to start the apocalypse.
John Bennett
I can't wait till this movie comes out on blu-ray so I can put fucking cc on. I'm bad at understand people.
David Morales
understanding**
Hunter Martinez
sauce plz
Owen Sullivan
>pedo director is ok
Hudson Kelly
I'm so fucking sick of this.
Julian Bennett
go picket a movie line then
Carter Morales
Why?
Ryan Evans
Fox shills are trying to push the only highlight of the flick.
Elijah Myers
>I feel bad it's not doing well and that Singer will probably get the boot. It's projected to make less than 500 million, and Singer already said he wants to take another break from X-Men.
Brody Wright
>It's projected to make less than 500 million, and Singer already said he wants to take another break from X-Men. This franchise is dead. Incoming Deadpool Cinematic Universe.
Ayden Russell
Famke or Sophie, who ya got Sup Forums
Joshua Barnes
The final battle was literally Gohan vs Cell: Mutant Edition and it made it more awesome
Jason Watson
Shame Sansa can't act for shit.
Adam Stewart
Shame. I enjoyed Deadpool, but it's more of the same. She's fine when she's not talking.
Jack Lee
I liked it more than BvS or Civil War desu
Joshua Cox
You know, I'll agree. Maybe it's just cathartic seeing characters act like sensible people (instead of fighting each other for dumb reasons and hiding stuff that could resolve their conflict in the first place).
The cast was likeable, especially Sansa, Neville Longbottom, and the Nightcrawler. Quicksilver was great. The only silly thing is how everybody just forgives Magneto, even though HE was the one turning the world to shit. Oscar Izaak surprised me, acting nothing alike his pilot role from Jay Jay Wars.
It is certainly more of a "classic" capeshit then the modern brands of Marvel quipshit and DC kinoshit, but it fills you with child-like fun.
Overall, I think if you liked First Class, you'll like this. If you think First Class sucked, better pass this movie. Compared to its pretentious "rivals", I think X-Men was OK. One of the times I'll have to disagree with Armand.
Tyler White
Will the BvS fags and the X-Cucks fight over which of their commercial and critical failures is more "kino"?
Aiden Barnes
Fucking song won't leave my head now.
Hunter Morris
Its a shittier version of X-3 with no starpower.
Jason Wilson
that looks fucking awful.
not talking about video quality btw.
Daniel Powell
>Like BvS and Civil War felt stupid because they were both trying to be realistic and grounded whilst the content was inherently retarded. CW should have been called something else. The Civil War in the source material was a war with legions of mutants and shit, not a little brawl over Bucky's dumb ass. The registration thing was actually a big theme, and Spiderman even made his identity public to address the issue, while Cap thought the government has no right to demand vigilantes to unmask themselves and stuff. The only similarity was really just Cap and Stark leading both sides.
Nolan Foster
Fox doesn't have enough money for the shills.
Jack Perez
do you have sauce on that?
David Evans
Movies being named after comic book events are not strange. Days of Future Past was called Days of Future Past even though the story is completely different aside from the fact that it involves travelling to the past.
Henry Ward
>These new X-Men movies feel like live action cartoons, and that's what I want out of a capeshit movie. Fucking this. I thought civil war was really good, but I enjoyed apocalypse much more, mainly because it reminded me so much of the old xmen cartoons but done much better
Dylan Clark
>that fucking TAB product placement
they dont sell TAB in my country but i desperately want one
what does it taste like?
Leo Ross
Isn't tab just basically diet coke? I think coke even owns it.
Go back to your Pedo parties, Bryan. It was awful.
Joshua Evans
Man the synths in thing song are so good
Connor Nelson
20 years from First Class and characters didn't aged. What the fuck is it with the timeline of X-MEN? Fan service with Wolverine and Quicksilver (even if it was a good scene) looks hamfisted and cheap. Apocalypse is ridiculous and non threatening as fuck. The Four Horsemen are backgrounds. Young Cyclops and Jean are forgettable and Jennifer Lawrence is fucking Katniss in blue (muh Peeta/Magneto, i don't want to be a symbol blah blah) and I'm sick of it. They should stop with those movies
Logan Wood
it was sadly the best part of the movie
Juan Long
Quicksilver scene was expectedly kino but the rest ranged from meh to shit. Horsemen got shafted, Angel could have been cool but was barely utilised. The scene in Strykers base was pretty good i guess.
Kevin Jackson
>when emma doesnt stop the succ.jpg
Adrian Howard
my main problems with it were >characters given fuck all to do like Jubilee, Wolverine, Stryker, Psylocke and Angel >plot elements like Weapon X having power nullifying tech that they dont use on Apocalypse for some reason and Magneto killing fucking thousands of people dropped >characters like Charles, Jean, Apoc and Quicksilver are OP as fuck but there's meant to be tension where they're up against soldiers and weak ass mutants or need backup from said weak ass mutants >Magneto's story was all over the top with his family dying AGAIN, being taken to fucking Auschwitz and the movie devolving into generic CGI disaster porn all in all could tell it had been rewritten a fuck load, but it still wasn't as bad as the reviews make out, still had some really fun action scenes and all the characters are still engaging
Samuel Watson
superhero movies are for cinema what hasbro is for cinema.
Dylan Baker
Who have the complete scene? I need to watch it again!
Isaac Jones
DCucks and now Foxfags. So much delusion.
Zachary Bailey
>bloated as fuck at 2.5 hours >nine different plots with characters >Apocalypse' plans are so vague and scattershot the way he pulls his scheme out of his ass as the plot keeps chugging >Didn't feel anything for characters that are rushed into a crowded story >too many characters including returning ones that have been gone for a movie >Apocalypse discovers the internet by touching a shitty TV in Egypt >Storm: That's a mutant. She's my hero. I want to be like her. (Great dialogue). >Magneto loses his family and just goes along with another ill thought plan to conquer humans Yeah, keep defending it.
