Gareth Edwards is fucking hack. Between the complete bore that was Monsters and his incompetent handling of Godzilla (which shouldn't have been that hard), he has proven himself to be shit.
As soon as I heard he was directing I lost all faith. His previous films looked amazing before they came out, why should this one be any different?

By what possible metric could you say tfa isn't competent? It's a multi million dollar movie written directed and produced by seasoned proffessionals. It was edited well, has good cgi which blended real sets and physical special effects and they hired and reintroduced iconic characters, places, and themes with a new story and actors without making any of it feel out of place.
If you perssonnaly had a billion dollars and all the time in the world you (as a director/producer) could never pull off something of its magnitude. You have nothing to ad to the dicussion and you and your opinion are worthless.
Uwe Boll's Postal film was entirely shot in 6 weeks if I am correct and that was a 2 hour film with a CGI plane flying into CGI twin towers (the visual effects were actually really good).

Not that guy, but it doesn't matter how many millions the movie costed. Of course the CGI is well done and the film looks ok. The films problems don't come from production they come from both the plot and the directing.
The plot is unoriginal and stupid. It's filled with reddit tier jokes, plot holes and logic defying bullshit that make it really hard to enjoy the movie. Some of the characters, like Phasma, Ren or the annoying orange are just hateful on a Jar Jar Binks level (even without poo jokes).
The directing is just as stupid as the plot with every scene being a dutch angle even if it doesn't fit at all.
I can't really understand how anybody can watch this movie more than once, specially the second half of it. You'd better watch ANH again for a way better experience with the same story.
