Remember that people largely enjoyed the prequels too when they came out. It was only with time and reflect we realized how poorly they compared.
Personally i expect the sequels(?) to be almost as looked down upon in a few years. The only thing they do seem to be getting right is their excellent art direction.
Obviously we will have to wait, but the incredibly generic and souless nature of VII has not exactly got me believing we will have masterpieces for VIII and IX.

It's an enjoyable flick but it's utterly forgettable. It will never be a cultural cornerstone.
