**yaaaaaaaaawn**

**yaaaaaaaaawn**

moron. the third one sucks though.

on a side note, i was reading the book today and there was a part where don hagen is waiting to meet the movie boss and he sees a beautiful 11 or 12 year old girl in the waiting room with her mother. then when he's at the movie bosses house later that night he sees her coming out with lipstick smeared over her face and a glassy expression meaning she had just been screwed by the old jewish movie boss.

i guess pedowood was a thing back then too.

>movies that are rated high but u have never seen nor ever want to

The new cut that mixes 1 and 2 together for a chronological timeline is pretty great but I always shut it off once 3 rolls around.

>Trilogy

that part is in the godfather epic

>praised as greatest movie of all time
>100% RT
>10 on IMDB
>number 1 on every movie list
>....
>watch first 20 minutes
>it's so fucking boring and nothing happens
>shut it off

Is this some kind of meme?

kek

i watched the first one.
AMAZING direction. fantastic editing. boring plot.

Watching the 2nd.
slow. hard to keep up with plot due to so many characters and basically nothing happening for 2 hours. get to intermission. turn it off saying i'll come back tomorrow. never went back.

i own all three cause it was a good deal, but they just collect dust.

Goodfellas made it obsolete, to be perfectly candid and forthright, sempai.

watched the first for the first time a couple of days ago. i agree. some of the character's decisions were strange to me. maybe i need to rematch a second time.

like, why did Michael Corleone decide to get back with his ex-wife after returning home? and why was his sister pissed off at him for killing her abusive husband? i would assume she'd be happy he's gone.

i have no memory of any of this......thats sad.

I saw the first one, never seen it and only reason I know of it is because my grandmother had it on VHS in her TV stand for decades. It was pretty good, but when I saw the second one, I thought the parts with Robert De Niro, the flashback parts, were terrible, so I decided not to watch the third one.

>why was his sister pissed off at him for killing her abusive husband?
she still loved him despite the abuse because she's a dumb woman. were you asleep during the scene where she begged Sonny not to kick his ass?

It's not a particularly entertaining film throughout. It has really sad tones and brooding cinematography. It's well made and I like it for different reasons, but you need to be in a specific mood to enjoy it.

>I thought the parts with Robert De Niro, the flashback parts, were terrible,

its just writing a character backwards like the star wars prequels

Conny didn't want to believe Michael would kill him. It was obvious he was in some kind of shit as Michael pulled him aside after the baptism. He was also the father of her newborn baby. Regardless of how shitty he treated her, no one wants their child to grow up fatherless.

>being this underage

The point of writing a character backwards in the SW prequels was to lead back to episode 4. The OT basically told us everything that would happen.
De Niro's scenes worked because Vito had a mysterious past. Of course we knew he wasn't going to die, but exploring his past was more about getting to know him better than just lead into the Godfather.

Good god this thread is very stupid and under age.

You people will be the downfall of cinema. Enjoy bitching about marvel/dc/and anything else comic related for the rest of your lives, cause shitty audiences like these plebs will only praise and pay for those movies.

On a side note, I just said "plebs"...I really need to stay the fuck off this site and only come here for wall papers. The amount of stupid here is over whelming.

showing vito's past was obviously meant to contrast with michael's corruption. vito rose to power through making friends, repaying his debts, and knowing when to kick ass. when revenge showed up in his story it only brought him pain. michael on the other hand only knew how to gain power through murder and he became so fixated on revenge that instead of dying with a large family like vito did he lived alone. the last scene fucking spells it out to you

Sup r*ddit

just look at this thread. even you spelling it out for them like that, they still won't get it. Its useless.

Also I think its such a shame that they fucked up the third so bad. They shouldve just paid Duvall the money he wanted. I wish they put out a novel of the script they had in mind, id like to at least read it.

I know they did a trilogy in the books but they changed so much compared to the movies, its nothing like what they had in mind for the third movie. Or it is but its too different from what the movie was spose to be

i don't go on reddit kid, so fuck off with the "hurr durr reddit!" insults, you look like an autist.

Everyone fucking knew what kind of person Vito was straight from the storytelling, directing, cinematography from first Godfather. His bits in Godfather 2 are pure fanservice with zero value.

Casino > The Goodfellas > The Godfather

FACT

once it got to the flashback in italy or whatever I literally couldn't bring myself to watch anymore.

godfather is literally the OK computer of film.

not helping your argument by comparing it to an amazing band. So I guess you're right by your last statement.

it wasn't meant to explain vito it was meant to provide an explicit contrast to michael. congratulations you didn't even understand the first sentence i wrote you fucking retarded faggot. seriously, no joke, kill yourself

the fact that they still made the third one after duvall opted out despite the amount of tom vs michael foreshadowing in the first two was a fucking disgrace.

Nah, I went back and watched Casino again recently. It's all just shots of people gambling and De Niro explaining shit in voice-over. I mean, it's cool and all, but it's not Goodfellas.

>it wasn't meant to explain vito it was meant to provide an explicit contrast to michael
lmao, do you think I didn't understand this? Fucking retard piece of shit. Vito bits were pure garbage. Everyone fucking knew based on Godfather the differences of Michael and Vito, again, the scenes were completely irrelevant fan service.

no...sorry you're still not getting it.

congrats with that last statement you just received a lifetime membership into the pleb club.

There is nothing to get you fucking simpleton

>do you think I didn't understand this?
you didn't mention the contrast factor until after i explained it to you twice so no.

>Fucking retard piece of shit
"every serious film critic and anyone with a relevant opinion has been wrong for 40 years except me on the internet"

>Vito bits were pure garbage
they were the best scenes in the trilogy pal

>Everyone fucking knew based on Godfather the differences of Michael and Vito,
Michael hadn't lost his soul yet. the first godfather was about his rise to the don, the second was about his paranoia ruining his life, with vito's past providing an artistic contrast (not every movie has to have every component planned for you artistic capeshitters). everyone understood this for 40 years up until your dumb ass. congratulations, your faggotry has made history.

>again, the scenes were completely irrelevant fan service.
'no'

it insists upon itself, Lois

>you didn't mention the contrast factor until after i explained it to you twice so no
Simpleton. Everyone understands this no matter how hard you think they don't.

>Michael hadn't lost his soul yet
If you didn't extrapolate that from Godfather you are, very much, a simpleton.

>artistic capeshitters
oops i meant autistic capeshitters, capeshit isn't art (unlike the godfather part ii)

>If you didn't extrapolate that from Godfather you are, very much, a simpleton.
first movie foreshadowed michael's tendency to use violence to solve everything with carlo's death, but killing fredo was very obviously a moral event horizon which signaled michael's downfall from any hope of redemption. again, this has been obvious to everyone for years and years until you came along

nope...sorry...you're just not getting it still

Goodfellas was a generic mafia movie with a predictable and boring story.

never watched godfather because of it's absurd length but i can tell it's an overrated reddit title just by the >9 imdb score.

It was a good movie but I don't consider it the best mafia movie. It did have a lot of great moments. I prefer casino over goodfellas

It was a good movie, but it certainly did not make The Godfather obsolete.

nice trips btw

Agreed. Brando was too old and fat for him to be attractive like he used to be, but too young and skinny for him to be hilariously sad like he ended up being.

Inability to meme or detect sarcasm is indicative of reddit

So any movie that has a 9 or more is a Reddit movie?

basing you watch on what others think about it.

Hows it feel being a sheep/contrarian? Do you base all your decisions on what everyone else thinks? or do you actually think for yourself every once in a while.

And once again, please stop using reddit as like a fucking adjective, its so insanely stupid and cringe worthy, get your head out of Sup Forums kid.

I wasnt agreeing about it making the godfather obsolete, that was another poster. I think godfather tops all of them.

What about God II?

>Don't ask me about my business, and get your ass back in the kitchen where you belong

What did he mean by this?

yeah i consider them the same. Basically the Godfather epic tops all of them.

Also its funny how when they re edited it, they didn't include part 3. Like it was an official statement that the third one was pure dog shit

IMO it really wasn't that bad, it just wasn't worthy of the predecessors. I know that the cliche contrarian response, but honestly if you watch it with low expectations and ignore Sophia it's a solid 7/10.

well yeah thats the thing, if they were to change the title and names and shit, and had it be a different movie that stood on its own i could've appreciated the movie a bit more. But with it being connected to its predecessors its sooo bad. And even without sofia i still had some other problems with it. It just makes it worse knowing that the whole trilogy could've been a masterpiece. I hate how studios can fuck things up like this so bad because of greed. they rushed them on the project and wouldnt meet the actors demands.

Only redeeming qualities I appreciated was michael looking back on all the people he lost and then dying by himself. and andy garcias character.

Holy shit so much bad taste.

This. Casino was a massive disappointment. Coming out just 5 years after Goodfellas and having both DeNiro and Pesci again just felt like such a poor attempt at re-creating the magic of Goodfellas and they didn't come close.

Shit was it? Is there a rip yet?

it was at its peak during the period where The Godfather takes place

its on hbo on demand

>(((you)))

absolute rubbish. Casino is one of Scorsese's best and better than Goodfellas.
>People thinking the Godfather is boring
youre missing out. just watch it again. So many great scenes. Its one of those films you really can just sink into
>Solozzo killing Luca Brasi
>Michael and Vito at the Hospital
>Michael involving himself into the business by killing Solozzo
>Sonny's death
>the baptism
>the most perfect ending to a film ever

>defends film from being boring
>points out nothing but gunshots and murder scenes

Fucking hell

If youre surprised that a ganster film has iconic scenes involving violence then go back to discuss captain america pal.

The point is that the film isn't "not boring" because of death and violence. It's the dialogue, acting, mystery, suspense and directing. Not just Sonny's death and the baptism scene.

Dumbass

the point is you have a shit opinion and think that opinion is a fact.
and you call me a dumbass despite being a complete idiot.

You're completely dancing around his points and he's calling you out for bringing up violent scenes so I'm doubting he's interested in the latest marvel flick.

Try harder m8

>butthurt

Next time you want to defend a GOAT piece of cinema just think to mention more than the murder scenes. Then people won't think you're a pleb. This is how we grow user. :^)

That is all.

>Don corleones speech about not taking vengence
>the final shot of michael closing out kate
>kate revealing the abortion to michael.
>michael and fredos final conversation
>that fade to black ending when michael is in the diner with his family listening to "dont stop believing"

Pick any scene. Its all epic

>goat cinema
>godfather
>plebs

O i am laffin

lad your argument of saying its boring has turned into a personal attack on me because you haven't got a clue. jog on.

>If youre surprised that a ganster film has iconic scenes involving violence then go back to discuss captain america pal.
He's not surprised he's saying there's more to the movie than iconic meme shootout scenes. How illiterate can you be?

cringe

why is this scene out of order in the godfather saga?

Never tell anyone outside The Family what you're thinking again

that rape scene was really out of place...

You do realize that Brando wasn't fat during the filming of The Godfather, right?

He wore prosthetics so he could look the part. Fucking look it up chief.

i mean out of chronological order

they show it after frankie tells michael there will be no trouble from him and leaves and after one of the women mentions seeing frankie talking to him
