Why does Kanye West need an army of writers for his songs?

Why does Kanye West need an army of writers for his songs?

How can we respect an artist that has a company of writers writing their music?

I mean shit nigga, we write off elvis for not writing his own music - why not Kanye?

who cares

really fires up the neurons

Every studio artist does. Kanye is just nice enough to credit them all.

Why does it even matter when its the end result you are after.

/thread

I don't like Kanye but I'm sure a lot of those are credits from samples

Because I have an IQ above 16, and it adds to the character of the artist that I'm listening to when he puts a bigger contribution to the role.

When you listen to a a Beatles song I go 'wow, John lennon is a genius', I don't want to think "wow, Shlomo Goldstein is a genius" when listening to a Kanye hook, cunt.

>Every studio artist does.

more like every pop artist

>Why does it even matter when its the end result you are after.

it matters when people declare him to some kind of genius

Don't really care though, Kanye is a pop artist, this is to be expected

>it matters when people declare him to some kind of genius
Maybe stop being triggered by what other people say?

this

kanye more like shitye

every musician who uses a studio has a bunch of people working on the album. Not a writing credit but still

Why would it mean he isn't a genius?

mozart wasn't a genius b/c he had whole orchestras of people playing.

fuck off antonio

>composing = playing
fucking retard

does anyone try to genuinely use this as an argument? I like Kanye's stuff but it's much less deep than he wants to, I got other artists for that shit

>Bjork: I have nothing against Kanye West. Help me with this—I’m not dissing him—this is about how people talk about him. With the last album he did, he got all the best beatmakers on the planet at the time to make beats for him. A lot of the time, he wasn’t even there. Yet no one would question his authorship for a second.

this makes me respect Bjork more. it sounds stereotypical but Kanye's old albums felt much better and natural.

what does that even mean

Kanye's early albums are important to they're his least interesting musically even if they sound more """natural"""

"to" should be "but"

Only a visionary like Kanye can coordinate and fit the pieces together.

Kanye pre-808s sounds like generic pop-rap shit. He earned the genius tag with his output since 808s.

I can agree his latter records are more experimental, but for me it's hit or miss with every track now. Early albums (and MBDTF, you got me there) are the ones I find really consistently good.

Who writes off Elvis?

Is someone on Sup Forums seriously implying that Don't Be Cruel isn't one of the most honed, fine-tuned and perfect pop songs ever?

kill yourself

Isn't all of the Dropout trilogy, 808s and MBDTF self written with features?

at least Kendrick gets the greats like Michael Jackson to write songs with him

The Life of Pablo is generally considered one of his weaker albums, mostly because it seems muddled and incoherent. Try checking out the credits for MBDTF or TCD instead. I don't think he's ever released an album that had only his production but his better projects all clearly have him as the creative figurehead.

For me, an artist having so many people writing music for him does make the songs seem more commercial and less intimate. Makes the album feel more like a product rather an art.
