What are some good "fever dream" movies?

What are some good "fever dream" movies?
I'm talking about movies with convoluted plots, grotesque, fantastic, or surreal elements and imagery, and atmospheric music and sound editing. Those kind of movies that are best watched after midnight with a bottle of booze by your side.

Not being snide, but are you sure that's the term you're going for? It's most often negative. Having said that

Bringing Out The Dead
Hour of the Wolf
Maps to the Stars

Meshes of the afternoon.

I don't really know any English ones besides the meme ones that everyone knows.

Eraserhead

Thanks for the suggestions, anons, I'll check them out.
Would "twisted" or "intricate" be more appropriate? English is not my first language. Thanks for the suggestions.
Already seen it, as well as most of Lynch's work.

Watch Cool World drunk.

>gozu
>synecdoche new york
>fucking revolver
these are all barely in the same category

I would say Twin Peaks but that's a show.

Looks good
Already seen some of them, will check out the other.
Kind of did already, lmao.
Already seen it, it's definitely among my favorite TV shows.

I need to watch this.
>Most Lynch, Cronenberg, and Jodorowsky
Already dealt with Lynch and Cronenberg. I gotta give Jodorowsky a try.
Thanks for your suggestions
Already on my list, I'm a sucker for giallo.
I've been meaning to watch this for a long time, it looks very interesting.

...

I've been meaning to watch this forever

Is it good?

Videodrome

Jacob's Ladder

literally the only movie that i feel really compares to lynch in its ability to capture this feeling

I once took strong acid and watched Blue Velvet.
My friends didn't fucking enjoy my taste while they were high.

Foodfight!

I loved Jacob's Ladder, but even my hardest attempts at getting into anything by Lynch just end up feeling like a waste of time.

The Zero Theorem

Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freakshow

>some good "fever dream" movies
WTF did I just watch movies?

Anyone have a Lost River grid?

Watch Eraserhead then everything else makes sense.

...

I had a fever dream very similar to the Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Does that count?

Strange Colour of Your Bodie's Tears was pretty crazy. I'm not really an arthouse guy but I thought it had some really fantastic visuals and the use of color was pretty effective.

Pop Skull
Beyond the Black Rainbow
Upstream Color
The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears
Altered States
Begotten
A Field in England
Kwaidan
Cat in the Brain
Rigor Mortis (sort of)
Valerie and Her Week of Wonders

Decent start.

what was the point of that?

Fateful Findings
I Am Here....Now
Double Down
By Neil Breen, if you're looking for convoluted

I think I watched it a long time ago. I tried Twin Peaks, the rabbit one, Blue Velvet. It was hard not to fall asleep.

I honestly want to like it. His pacing is just so slow and nothing makes sense, not even on a rudimentary level.

Greatest movies ever made

No plot at all

...

Yeah I was like that, tried heaps of his stuff, really wanted to like him but just didn't find it accessible at all.

Then one day I gave Eraserhead a go and it all just clicked, and I've loved his stuff ever since. I can't explain to you what I see now that I didn't before because I don't really know either.

You should try his music too, I love some of what he's done. But I'm a douchebag who likes lofi and vaporwave and other hipster shit so I dunno

Best list I've seen here. There are x2 on it that I haven't seen. Love finding gems!!

Flicks by Makavejev, Jodorowsky, Arrabal, Svankmajer, Parajanov

3 women is very surreal and feels a lot like a dream.

some cultures believe cupping has healing powers.
I had a bunch of cups on my back before (without cuts) and its a great message.

Takeshis'

Gethits

...

Encounters of the Third Kind describe this perfectly, 3 quarters of the way through it now and im convinced the aliens are really just a speed freak's fevered delusion.
>convoluted plots
>imagery
>atmospheric
>midnight beer movie
pay close attention to dialogue

...

Listen to the emotions of the film. Eraserhead is an incredibly emotional film. The neuroses he captures in the dinner scene are very relatable.
