Late 90s-early 00s was a pretty forgettable time in music though even if you were old enough to remember.
it wasn't forgettable to me, but like every era of music it was a few bands doing something well and then 100 imitations.
I guess it depends on what music you listened to but I remember that timespan being a lot of hard rock metal and nu-metal clones of bands like Korn and System of a Down. Just like the 80's was bad clones of new wave and now it's endless clones of autotuned pop-rap.
