Why are Italian and Persian even mentioned? Also, learning English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Mandarin, German and Hindustani. Planning to start Swahili as well when it becomes available on Duolingo. Spanish one day

My first thought it was the languages with the most number of speakers, but it's missing a few for that. Then I thought about countries with one language, but >India Also, why does it say Hindustani (shouldn't that be Hindi in English?) for Pakistan?
As for why Italian and Persian are even mentioned, reeeee. They're relevant languages with good literature and history. t. learning Farsi

>learning English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Mandarin, German and Hindustani 7 languages at the same time? Are you even taking them seriously? Take only 1, or a maximum of 2 if you want to go beyond ordering at a restaurant level. There is no way anyone can study that many at the same time.

I believe Hindi only refers to the Indian/non-Muslim variant of Hindustani, while Urdu is the Muslim one, mainly spoken in Pakistan. Both dialects/languages are close enough to be perfectly mutually intelligible when spoken, hence the term «Hindustani». Still sceptical for Italian, but fair enough for Farsi 2bh
I'm only actively working on my Arabic, Swedish and Hindi through the Assimil method. That's about 3 hours a day in total. Not being really serious on the rest, learning 5 to 10 words a day in Portuguese (B1) and Chinese (A2), so it might take me years to get a decent level, though I don't really mind. I'm kinda fluent both in French and in English.
