WTF why is British Columbia so expensive?

...

what could the reason possibly be, I wonder

(((politicians))) want money from foreign investors

Canadians have lots of money

Never understood how PEI is so cheap. Place is gorgeous.

no jobs
no foreign investment

Chinese buying real estate to hid their money from their govt taxes

>Tfw Abbotsford mission

Perfect combination of cost of living and urban comforts.

For BC that is

>WTF why is British Columbia so expensive?

In 2008, Stephen Harper lifted a law that restricted foreign, non-citizens from owning more than 1 property in Canada. BC already had a lot of Chinese population and investment. This opened up the BC housing market to essentially become the defacto safety net investment area for the rich Chinese to dump their money away from the staggering Chinese economy.

Because we're fuuuuuucked

How come British Colombia has so many Pajeets?

It's the first stop from india

>americans in charge of geography

They take their 2 week doctor course and then become our doctors

>mfw I haven't seen a white doctor in years

Do you only like it when old white men touch your balls and tell you to cough?

>it's stephen harper's fault

He hasn't been in power for years now. At this point its the current governments' (BC+Fed) fault for failing to remedy the situation.

Its been a year and a half actually. The government has done something, they reinstated the head ta- i mean the foreign buyers tax.

I like Canadian-trained doctors, or doctors from other accredited medical schools. I had a great asian ENT specialist a while ago who graduated from UBC.

But communication is vital, and all the drop-in doctors I've had since I can remember can't even speak english properly and need me to clarify simple instructions as to my symptoms.

Vancouver and Victoria are 2/3 of the population, and they don't have much land to build cities on

other than tourist season and the fishery there isn't anything unless you own a farm

they're B.O. tier sikhs, they came to work on farms 100 years ago and now they own a bunch where they'll only employ fellows

>all the drop-in doctors I've had since I can remember can't even speak english

Why do you live in china town?

Because they can't make me move

Why does Montreal seem so affordable in comparison to a a lot of other major cities around the US and Canada?

Natives.

Chinks can't learn French so they stay out of the housing market

Go on...

He changed the law you retard, doesn't matter if he hasn't been in power for 150 years, he fucking caused it. It can't be changed back now because foreign owners already fucking own the properties.

You legally have to know french to work in a business of over 50 people. Stops a lot of people living there. But a lot of french still consider it too anglo and immigrant.

It would be considered part of our rust belt. A lot of factories left, taking families with them. The city population has stayed high because of urban renting.

Winters fucking suck.

15% isn't enough.

I won't be satisfied until single-room leaky-roof teardowns in Mount Pleasant are valued as the piece of shit they are, not at $3 million.

All the current tax has done is reduce prices to where we were last year, and we have only delayed the bubble from popping.

Eh even in comparison to other cities of it's size and features it's much cheaper than Boston for comparison. Even compared to C/B cities like Charlotte, NC, Nashville, etc.

Imagine a nig nog, but devoid of even the basest sense. A native will attack unprovoked, but unlike a nog it won't be for wealth or status or for revenge. They will simply attack because you are there at times. Unpredictable people.

The economy is also crappy for the most part for a city of that size 2bh
