Do you think Bill's going to be unbearable? Obnoxiously quirky name does not bode well, and so does not her mouth.

she'll probably be gone after one season along with moff and capaldi anyway

>Bill
>obnoxiously quirky name
wot?

Reminder Fady will play a gay character and will make Class GOAT.

What about the fact that she's CUTE! ?

>Girl with male name
>Not a special snowflake

Yeah ... so cute

All hail queen of butterface.

>tfw series 10 is going to be the last good series of doctor who

Best Big Finish trilogies:
>5th Doc: The Emerald Tiger/The Jupiter Conjunction/The Butcher of Brisbane
>6th Doc: City of Spires/The Wreck of the Titan/Legend of the Cybermen
>7th Doc: A Thousand Tiny Wings/Survival of the Fittest/The Architects of History
>Mixed Docs: Omega/Davros/Master
Agree or disagree?

>people don't understand this isn't some fashion show where all the pretty people come
>they are the /who/ equivalent of Tumblr's "Peter Capaldi is ooogleh"

I'm allowed to make fun of ugly people because I too am ugly, only on the inside.

Should Chibnall have Trump and Monica Lewinsky as the next doctor/companion pair?

Discuss.

Nope

i wish.
Greg will probably be the gay one, he just has the twink vibe

Don't be so sure, they might be subverting your expectations by not making the twinky one the gay one. Wouldn't be a first for Ness.

Remember when Doctor Who thought Americans looked like this?

when was this?

I'm pretty sure the guy in the far left is his boyfriend in the show.

What leads you to that conclusion?

Class isn't even out yet, but I already hate it.

Sound Of Drums

How are you going to behave when it comes out and is good?

I will still hate it. Hate is giving me purpose and keep my cold black heart going.

I saw a filming video with Greg and that guy running together, it's not a conclusion tbqh just speculation at this point.
We are two months away from Class (assuming it airs September/October) so we're going to find out pretty soon.
They've been amazing so far with filming outside without drawing too much attention so we don't really know anything.

...

But you don't realise you're going to love it cause you'll be blinded by the absence of Doctor Who and Class will be there to fill the void with some good ol' fun romp

CRISPS

thought it was a penis for a second

Shite story, shite costumes. It could have been GOAT if they did it right. There should have been another way.

But I hate Doctor Who so I will fill absence of hate with Class.

Just watched the "Sleep No More" episode. Eye-booger monsters, really Moffat?

That's Gatiss.

Well he's a fucking hack then

At this point I blame Moffat for continuing to hire him. Gatiss is doing the best he can at least, but Moffat should have learned his lesson by now.

That's true. What really pisses me off is that the logic of the story makes no sense. It has invalid logic in it.

go to bed mark

Nothing about it makes any sense. Why did the guy turn to dust at the end? Was he a monster the whole time? Was the whole thing just for show?

don't worry. the next 3 episodes are GOAT.

Is it confirmed if Capaldi si leaving with Moffat or not?

Nope. Capaldi said awhile back he was asked to stay but hadn't decided yet.

Does anyone have The Forgotten?

It's more an easy way for britons to know the country of those people, since normal people would be indistinguishable from britons

>Was he a monster the whole time? Was the whole thing just for show?
Yes and yes. That's actually a good idea and signal that turns you into alien dust I can swallow, but deliver straight faced exposition about it being eye boogers is a bit too much.

How can accelerated sleep create extra eye boogers?

They like footbal and junk food. What's wrong with that?

>the furniture is all red, white and blue
Subtle.

...

I want to rob her diner and rape her for 20 hours straight.

...

Rude

Come on m8, we both know you couldn't last 20 minutes straight.

...

I will rape her with a dildo during recovery period.

He's probably waiting to hear what Chinball's future plans for the show will be. Then he'll make up his mind.

Please leave, please leave, please leave...

I want a clean break.

>wanting capaldi to leave

#Capaldiforseries11

So you can stop watching? I sympathise.

I second that. Show needs a change. Would be great to have another series 5.

Unless the clean break gives us a female Doctor, I want Capaldi to stay.

the first Big Finish play I ever heard was Chimes of Midnight, way back in 2007, and that tricked me for so long into thinking that the majority of Big Finish stuff is actually good and not mediocre fanwank

the highs are so good, but so much of it is so bad

Why the fuck does she take literally EVERYTHING literally?

twitter.com/GirlyLetters/status/756153390183440384

It seems like they are getting better now. What's mediocre about their output?

Master is a masterclass of an audio, though, and deserves to be considered one of the best of Who (so does Chimes).

>He probably wants you out of his territory.
I'm not a hummingbird expert or anything but that sounds like bullshit. Why would a hummingbird care that a human is in its territory? It's not like they're competing for food or mates.

She's probably autistic.

>the term Dardis is actually official
I knew it! in your face, tardis wikia.
Also, apparently the Christmas episode of Daleks' Masterplan was originally supposed to be a crossover with the show Z-Cars. The more you know.

I think the user was baiting. I don't even listen to Big Finish yet and that smelled like bait to me desu.

Nah, some people have legitimate complaints of BF. Basically, they complain about Big Finish being far too trad, doing simple "Dr and companions fight monster" romps that are replaceable with each other.

Nah, I was baiting.

Different user but I think Master kind of gets less impressive in the final act. The whole dark gothic bottle episode buildup is solid gold though.

The thing about properly brilliant writers like Rob Shearman is that they tend to have better things to do than write audio dramas for fans of an old, cancelled series. We were lucky to have him (and he kept talking about coming back for ages, god knows where that's at) but it's logical that he and other BF greats are exceptions, not the rule.

Speaking of BF I just finished The Two Masters today, which I thought was a very tightly written, funny and sharp ride. One gag between the two Masters in Part 4 particularly had me rolling. It reminded me of Dorney's strengths as a writer but also some of his weaknesses, such as the decision to end on the note of Jemima's restoration, even though by this point we've totally stopped giving a shit about her...the "relatable human character who isn't very developed but is going to get narrative importance anyway" feels almost prerequisite in Dorney audios at this point and while the whole "maybe the universe is sick, but that just means it needs a Doctor" thing is quite cute in the moment, it it would feel utterly facile in any era from Cartmel to Moffat. I find myself pleased when modern BF successfully does a cracking, clever romp, but wishing it wouldn't give up there when it comes to ambitious treatment of themes and concepts.
I haven't really bothered with Main Range since like 2014 so if anyone has recs that sound up my alley, I'd be grateful.

Everyone can see you are a new unique IP, don't tell lies.

JUST (?)

Just fuck my show up Chris

I've heard that the Trouble With Drax, Peterloo Massacre, The Secret History (don't read up on this, just listen unspoiled), The Neverwhen (which I've heard, and it was good), and Signs were good.

Also, The Red Lady (part of the Doom Coalition set) is one of the best displays of Lovecraftian Horror in Who, and the monster isn't even technically Lovecraftian.

The Peterloo Massacre is laughably shitty.

The Red Lady is fucking rubbish mate

Why?

you can tell what is going to happen in the first 5 mins then it just marks time until the blatantly obvious conclusion
it's woeful

...

You should definitely listen to equalibrium and the widows assassin, the strongest stuff of 2014

That's like saying the Aztecs is bad, because clearly you know what's gonna happen.

The audio isn't hiding the end (it's in the name). The whole idea is how will the Doctor and companions deal with the situation, and wat does it reveal about the characters.

This is bait, right?

She's super cute.

fat do

>That's like saying the Aztecs is bad, because clearly you know what's gonna happen.
horseshit

>This is bait, right?
No mate it's a crapfest. Why don't you explain what is so good about it.

The evocativeness. The fact that the villain can't ever be destroyed, just defeated. The fact that the mysteries come together. The fact that it legitimately puts the Doctor and companion in danger. The fact that it's a good companion introduction.

Why is it a crapfest?

>The evocativeness. The fact that the villain can't ever be destroyed, just defeated. The fact that the mysteries come together. The fact that it legitimately puts the Doctor and companion in danger. The fact that it's a good companion introduction.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

OK. I see what this is.

No mate, your response WAS laughable, wishy washy and desperate sounding.
It could probably describe a hundred other audios too. You have avoided any specifics in case they are torn apart, I suspect.

Prediction time:

The Hybrid arc is not over and it will be the central theme of Series 10. It will be something to do with the weeping angels. There is something Time Lordy about the angels which is yet to be addressed.

Moffat will bring the angels back for his final story

go away Connor

Yeah the reason I said Main Range is that I've covered several of their recent box set releases, including all three you mentioned.
I thought The Neverwhen was an extremely solid concept (and twist that legitimately caught me off guard) with okay execution. Signs was wonderfully weird and off-kilter but sagged at the resolution when it had to go back to being normal. I should probably relisten to The Red Lady but I found it to be just good, leagues above the rest of DC1 but nothing amazing.

I did Widow's Assassin as well. See, I did enjoy that one well enough, but strangely it wasn't what I wanted out of '6 reunites with an older Peri', in fact it seemed to be setting that up before copping out of it with devastating force and doing some random other stuff instead. I recall being at the scene towards the end where the comedic side characters are all lying around taking fucking forever to die complete with protracted death moans, and thinking "why does this exist?".

Has anyone listened to Aquitaine, I've heard extremely good things about that.

>The Hybrid arc is not over
No
>and it will be the central theme of Series 10
Double no
It literally only served a purpose as a metaphor for 12 and Clala. When Moffat is trying to start a 'brand new show' with 12 and Bill, it would be totally counterintuitive to make it about the Hybrid (especially after a year long break when everyone's forgotten what the hell it was).

Don't confuse your fanfic with Moffat's.

It won't, because Moffat makes it up as he goes along. He also said that Series 8 would be a "bigger change since 2005". Hardly.

Series 8 was a pretty big change though. It happens in stages, but by Dark Water the show is basically unrecognisable as what it was the previous year.

I'm partially being vague to avoid spoilers. But fine. Spoilers below for The Red Lady.

The Red Lady cannot be destroyed. Most villains, the Doctor can find some technobabble to stop. But the Red Lady? He can't understand it, and he doesn't know how to stop it. All he can do is hide it, and who knows whether it will be found.

Why does it kill people? Why is its face so horrible? (And the fact that this is an audio is nice, as we can imagine what it looks like.) The Doctor never finds out, and neither does the audience. And any attempt to research would rsk infection, so we may never know.

The mystery of the blind painter, and how it seems maybe he's amassing the paintings to harm people, and how it's revealed that he's doing it to save people.

The Doctor's main weapon is his mind. A monster that can harm his mind is one of the most dangerous for him. (Which is why the Mara should be used more.)

Helen Sinclair shows, in her first audio, how she's stifled by her current era, and also how fearless, and clever, she is under pressure, by saving the Doctor and Liv. It makes sense she becomes the companion.

Also, the soundwork, from what I remember, was good.

I couldn't stand The Two Masters. The whole story revolves around the pointless, undramatic trick of the Masters' bodyswap. It takes almost two episodes to explain via flashbacks, and it tells us nothing new about the character. ("Oh look, in the previous story Alex MacQueen wasn't playing the Master, he was actually playing Geoffrey Beevers playing the Master! Isn't it clever?" Who gives a shit?)
On top of that, you have the one-off companion who takes the whole first episode to be introduced and then does nothing for the rest of the story except getting killed just so that the Master can brag about it. And once you take out the overly convoluted rubbish and useless character, the actual plot is all too straightforward: Master 1 hijacks the Doctor's TARDIS, meets up with Master 2, they go kill some cultists and cause the end of the universe, only the Doctor stops them because they can't agree with each other. I suppose the bickering between Beevers and MacQueen in episide 4 was quite fun, but on the whole it was pretty terrible, my least favorite MR story since Moonflesh. And I had expectations for it too, as I usually like Dorney.

Anyway, MR recs:
Breaking Bubbles and Other Stories (four good stories, especially the final one)
The Widow's Assassin (very funny, great Sixth Doctor, maybe it goes a twist too far)
Equilibrium (season 18-style story about conservation of energy)
The Entropy Plague (final story in the older Nyssa arc, quite emotional)
The Secret History (historical with the Fifth Doctor, Vicki, Steven and a surprise return)
We Are the Daleks (capitalist Daleks, Cartmel-style politics)
You Are the Doctor and Other Stories (quite fun, especially the first story)
The Waters of Amsterdam (Tegan-focused, entertaining)
Aquitaine (time-skipping on a spaceship)

this is not an explanation of anything mate
this is just a list of things you liked
that's fine but you have not made a case for this audio being particularly good at all

Okay then, explain to me why it's bad.

Helen is one of the most monotonous, personality free companions I've ever heard.
Combined with Liv 'no discernable personality or character' Chekna, this makes for some incredibly boring listening.

Martha is legitimately the hottest companion.

So underrated.
