I'm already working in insudtry as an actor for five years. The problem is i'm russian and working in russian film industry (which sucks).
Unless you're doing something that's meaningful to you and/or can't be done unless you're an "employee", you should always aim to found your own company or becoming self-employed.
Even if it's a nice job, it's just a sub-optimal solution to your need for money. Everyone should strive to live a life they enjoy and can be proud of. Slaving away most of your days is nothing to be proud of. At all. Sure, it's better than being a NEET, but so is almost any productive use of your time and energy.
