Oh don't mind me, just being the single greatest film director of all time

Oh don't mind me, just being the single greatest film director of all time.

hmm PTA looks a lot like Orson Welles in this pic

The guy they got to play him RKO 281 was spot on

Also Citizen Kane is the best American film ever made but I don't know about Welles being the GOAT

Thats an odd picture of Nolan

who?

Maybe greatest waste of potential of all time

F for Fake was genius. Other Side of the Wind would have been Vertov's wetdream.
Only Bergman pushed his cinematographers to greater feats that Welles but when one of your most well known films is Touch of Evil you can't say that your oeuvre speaks for itself.

He's a fucking weird guy. So talented from so young yet he pissed it away.
If he had of learned to follow through with projects he could have been the first Kubrick. Instead he turned into a Erich Von Stroheim, minus the cinematic excess (the personal excess however...)

His caprice was his undoing, just like Giacomo Casanova.

Arrogant arrogant man.

>he turned into a Erich Von Stroheim
oh that's true

>Only Bergman pushed his cinematographers to greater feats

to be fair, sven nykvist was a true genius

nope

>Dubs of truth

I truly believe though that a genius can only truly excel when they have either a similar genius to push them, or an incompetent whom gives them freedom.

Thats not takeshi "beat" kitano.

...

MWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH THE FRENSH

let's agree on that. i wonder what bergman thought of orson welles in any case. i only know he disliked hitchcock and godard but he was also a very grumpy guy so he probably disliked many more.

>Makes one well known movie that is overrated beyond anything imaginable
>Single greatest film director of all time

There must be laws against being this stupid.

>well known
Ask 10 random people on the streets if they heard of Citizen Kane
>one
The Magnificent Ambersons, Touch of Evil, Chimes at Midnight ... all masterpieces
>Single greatest film director of all time
Name me your pick, I didn't laugh today yet.

There must be laws against being this stupid.

I bet that mix of cynical contrarianism and stupidfying ignorance makes you a hit at parties user

>stupidfying
I meant Stupefying
Apparently your ignorance is contagious

I saw citizen kane for the first today. it was alright, I guess

Did you say most overrated?

And that's it. It's just alright. It's not the best movie ever made and it wasn't back then either. What's the argument all the film "experts" use again? That it's got some clever camera angles that were innovative at the time?
