Honestly, it's a good idea to separate the movie universe from the TV stuff, better than pretending they're linked.
It does suck when certain characters who were good in their roles have to be killed off/completely cut so as not to "confuse the general audience" see: Deadshot, Waller, Deathstroke, Captain Boomerang, etc etc.
