>Do names have to have a meaning in Albanian?

In ancient, pagan times of course. Unless they weren't Albanians.

Most non-troll maps show that most of modern-day Albania (up to Tirana) belonged to Ancient Epirus. And during Roman times most of Albania was a part of the "Macedonia" province.

Illyria was always centered on the Croatian Coastline, and it's capital during the Illyrian Kingdom was on the border of Montenegro and Croatia/Bosnia.

Obviously Albania geographically wasn't the center of the Illyrian civilization or habitat.

Also Illyrians were primarily coast dwellers and traditionally pirates/seafairers. The albanian language doesn't have a rich maritime vocabulary that would be expected of such a people. It's vocabulary is typical rural-mountainous focus.

not so fast mini osmanli, I didn't say you weren't turks too

>Please, even Croatian nationalists used to call themselves Illyrian before the League of Prizren

yes, that's well-known. and? I'm talking about actual history and linguistics, not modern nationalism

no, dude, the actual ancient Epirus - Old Epirus in Roman terms - went up to the Acroceraunian mountains in southwest Albania. you're confusing the Roman province of Epirus Nova which was part of ancient Illyria

the name of Illyria expanded from the area of Albania to the rest too
