To all past USSR countries

To all past USSR countries

How is the fall of the Soviet Union viewed in your country? Is it celebrated or mourned about?
Is there a difference in opinion seen from the different generations?
Do the elderly miss the days of communist rule, or do they say "good riddance" to the fall?
What about yourselves?

You realize the Soviet Union is the primary reason, Eastern Europe is such a shithole right?

Moldovan here

I'll try to sum up like this.

In the soviet era, we dreamed of freedom in our houses. In democracy, we dream of houses in freedom.

Eastern Europe has always been a shithole even before gommunism

Nice. At least there weren't homeless or starvation in Soviet Union.

Majority of people mourned about 10 years ago. it's feels like nobody doesn't give a shit now. People don't vote for commies and shit

COMMUNISM IS GREAT THEY HAD 60% OF THE WORLDS TERRETIROY BUT COULT NOT FEED MY MOTHER FAMILY WITH FOOD, GO COMMUNISM!

>There wasn't starvation in Soviet Union

Ah yes. Famines and breadlines just capitalist fabrication! Ussr #1, da!

...

Maybe you stupid family shouldn't collaborate with nazzis?

Depends. Those, who wish the USSR to rebirth, are either brainwashed and ignorant patriots or who understand current Russian weaknesses and want it to restore its former glory.

I personally find the whole Soviet thing a cute experiment that should've went better if we had more efficient leaders.
Look at China - they're not doing so badly, to he honest, though they were typical commies back in 1950s.

Depends in what is convenient for them
butthurt belt gets euro moneys in an amount Russia could never hope to match so they are very against
Central Asian people want it back because they want gibsmedats from Russia.
Any russian with working neurons doesn't want it back. Old people don't miss communism or ussr itself, they miss the status we had as "superpower" before we got utterly destroyed in the 90s

This has to be satire

>Bohemia
>Hungary
>shit before gommunism
Nope

Not true. My parents had family in other villages, and in Romania too. Some of them were extremely poor. The difference was that everyone was like that, and the state provided you some minimal yet not enough supplies. There was hunger sometimes. But somewhat not extreme, except the war-related first times. Now things go bipolar. Some people live as gods and others become poorer than the poorest man in the 50's. But the majority lives in a constant survival state. We don't have anyone with us, we have to survive, to put our animal instinct in getting our families forward, in having house, and food. That didn't happened before. We were poor and hungry, but the idea of survival didn't exist. If things were to get better it wouldn't be because of us it would be for all and state granted.

I'm not an anti-communist. Communism is an ideal that would work nicely in a advanced state of humanity where our technology can provide us equal and enough resources. But in post-war countries like Moldova it only brought equal poverty. Yes, there was some corruption too, some people got rich, not as rich as nowadays, but rich. Yet, they were irrelevant in number and quantity. Today's thing is bipolar, extremed to the max.

Stalinist era was horrible

Yeah, old people are nostalgic for the Soviet Union and say those times were better.

>gets presented with facts
>"IT GOTTA BE SATIRE DENY DENY DENY LALALA I CANT HEAR YOU"

HAHAHAH U JUST WENT FULL RETARD

ALL THESE WARS WERE CAUSED BY ETHNIC TENSIONS AND LUST FOR TERRITORY AND RESOURCES, WHY DONT U POST ALL THE WARS FROM THE ANCIENT AGES AND MIDDLE AGES AS WELL?

COMMUNISTS ACTUALLY HAD 60% OF THE WORLDS TERRITORY AND LOTS OF RESOURCES.

BUT IF U KILL ALL THE SMART PEOPLE LIKE IN EVERY COMMUNIST REVOLUTION EVER, AND THEN KEEP THEN IN CHECK WITH A DICTATORSHIP, U DONT HAVE ANY PEOPLE WHO KNOWS HOW TO USE THE RESOURCES.

HHAHAHAHAHAHA

someone is mad

>How is the fall of the Soviet Union viewed in your country?
What do you mean by that?

1. End of the rule of commies..
2. Dismemberment.
3. New economy.

They are three separate cases.

>Is it celebrated or mourned about?
Neither.

>Do the elderly miss
Some of them.
>communist rule
They have no idea what is communism.
They just miss doing nothing and having enough, their youth, peace, eetc. There are also people who were opressed by Soviets.

>What about yourselves?
I am glad that commies and scialism are no more. Of course reforms were unprofessional but now is is not so important. Our society and culture were fuced up beyond repair, I don't belive that Russians (I mean native people) have a good chance for the bright future in our current state.

But the USSR was more of a technocracy than the west

>kill all smart people
Are you retarded? Majority of the white left to paris or usa. People who supported it like chekhov continue to live in ussr.

Excuse my typos, it is too late already I guess.

>Facts
>Calls the "Nazi holocaust" a result of capitalism
>Pins starvation in failed states as a result of capitalism

>Capitalism has never been tried
what? Who said that?

Every major country in the world is capitalist right now.

Mourned

We were industrial powerhouse during commie times

Now we are just german slave-factory

Some pros from communism: non-existant crime, zero unemployment, free appartments, support for young families, quality food

How delusional are you? Why does every communist nation turn into millitary dictatorship until it collapses?

Why does China start to become more prosperous the more capitalistic it gets?

Why are all first world countries capitalist, while commie shitholes with no morals like China and North Korea are absolute trash?

Delosional garbage
Why did China suddenly start to pro

>World war one and two and the genocide of native Americans was a result of Capitalism
>These are "facts"

Really encouraging my brain to start thinking

>china isnt capitalist
>USSR WAS!!!!1

well, yes

>Every major country in the world is capitalist right now.
nordic countries, china

Are you underaged?

Nordic Countries are Capitalist with strong welfare safetynets. Aka the kind of Capitalism Milton Friedman advocated for.

>China
China is a capitalist country.

www.businessinsider.com/how-china-went-from-communist-to-capitalist-2015-10

>Nordic Countries are Capitalist with strong welfare safetynets. Aka the kind of Capitalism Milton Friedman advocated for.
Friedman didn't like welfare

Friedman was an ancap fedora

>capitalism is shit
>communism is shit
what do

Mix them until something better comes along

Supporting Free markets doesn't mean you are opposed to welfare.

www.economist.com/news/leaders/21571136-politicians-both-right-and-left-could-learn-nordic-countries-next-supermodel
"On public services the Nordics have been similarly pragmatic. So long as public services work, they do not mind who provides them. Denmark and Norway allow private firms to run public hospitals. Sweden has a universal system of school vouchers, with private for-profit schools competing with public schools. Denmark also has vouchers—but ones that you can top up. When it comes to choice, Milton Friedman would be more at home in Stockholm than in Washington, DC."

Really? Czechs? Nostalgic about commie rule? Now I've seen everything.

There were famines. The last one in the USSR was in 1947 though.

yet still you accuse the USSR of being communist while nothing could be further from the truth

Interesting post

Thanks to US imports

>while nothing could be further from the truth

What was the USSR then?

You've incorrectly identified China and Nordic countries as not being Capitalist. I want to hear this now.

Wait let me guess. he's a porky too?

>Ronald Coase is a Nobel laureate and the Clifton R. Musser Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Chicago Law School. Ning Wang is an assistant professor at the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University. This essay is based on their recent bookHow China Became Capitalist.

state capitalist

fascism

Retarded nigger, Czechoslovakia had higher GDP per capita than Austria before WW2

He was a libertarian capitalist, not an ancap. He was more sane than the conspiratards like Mises.

My father says "we were a country when we were the Soviet Union, now we're nothing".

A few times. So what? Countries import food all the time. It's especially not surprising that a massive, urbanized country with only 10% arable land would import food.

This

I hope your father moved because if he didn't he's mistaking Yugoslavia for the cccp

You want to enjoy your victory? It was a usual day, nothing special. People just became to play other rules, common world's rules. 'Perestroyka' means rebuilding in Russian, so democracy became spread from 80s and the fall of communism happened not one day.

>massive, urbanized country with only 10% arable land would import food
What does it have to do with USSR?

You're American you can't know this.

What can't I know

We have one of the strongest commie parties in Europe

Make Russian expats suicide bomb them.

BS. There wasn't a big variety of packaged foods but all the basics were available and affordable by all. Besides you could always move to a better republic. Stop lying.

>you could always move to a better republic

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_passport#Soviet_Union_and_its_successors

Soviet Republics were almost at bantustan level, if you wanted to move your ass from one place to another.

Also, I'm curious can a Burger survive on such monthly diet as pic related was providing.

>How is the fall of the Soviet Union viewed in your country? Is it celebrated or mourned about?
celebrated vigorously
>Is there a difference in opinion seen from the different generations?
not estonians, but the freeloading piece of shit subhumans have nostalgia
>Do the elderly miss the days of communist rule, or do they say "good riddance" to the fall?
see last answer
>What about yourselves?
i was born in it and DO NOT want it back. it was shit

I lived in USSR. We never had food shortages. It was bad in the 90's but it wasn't called SU anymore.

Estonia was always irrelevant.

wfw you're the shithole of EU now enjoy democracy poor fags

>Inb4 muh Tallinn tours

your butthurt is delicious

are you a slavshit perhaps?

Better be a Slav than a dumb half Mongol.

stfu and gtfo slavshit

Name some famous Estonian.

Cute avatar btw.

You might be retarded.

Not to mention getting basic groceries and other supplies from the stores was difficult as fuck.

>always irrelevant
>won a war against russia
>had major european powers fighting over us for centuries

My home city of 20k people is older than your entire country lmao.

Well we had. Maybe Comecon policies added it to the burden of inefficient communist economy, or maybe it was the result of our military coup done to appease Moscow comrades. Hell knows.

How old are you two fuckers

Old enough. :*)

30+ here to not be precise

>muh old village

I make more money than your whole family.

we dont really care about fall of USSR
they left us earlier than that and we are happy about it, theres a part of the whole population who miss security, you know that kinda thing if you get fired youll get another job, youll have a pension
things that make you feel safe

that system is gone and many ppl mostly old or middle aged couldnt adjust

im glad they fucked off, its better to be free

73103953
neetshits dreaming again, lol

You're making American flag on this board drowning to the leaf level and you know this.

Kek you have to be lying or born in 1989

And I don't even work for a big IT company. You will always remain a welfare country.

>Estonia
>What to be Finland

Finland is irrelevant too.

Even if you are 35 that would make you born 1982. Add even another 5 years and that would make you 1977. That would make you 14 years old max when the SU collapsed. How can you claim you "lived" in the Soviet Union exactly? I have no problem with you bashing the Soviet Union, let's be clear, but be honest if someone older told you about the state of things then, not like you yourself went through hell or what not.

>born before that

I apologize for the disrespectful americans in this thread

a lot of pointless text. take it how it was: it sucked. i remember the deficit era quite well thanks.

The day of the fall of the Berlin Wall is regarded as the single greatest day of German history.

Sure, it's widely recognized for its historic significance but a lot of common people don't realize what a revolutionary event it was.

Seriously, it's no exaggeration. Up until the very events leading up to its fall, the great majority of people really believed that it was here to stay for at least a hundred years, even forever, that they would not live to see its end.

It really marked the end of a very traumatic era, even being regarded as the true end of World War ll to many. Announcing the beginning of a peaceful, properous and united Germany and Europe.

Though, integration didn't happen over night and many things like the privatisation of the state-owned industry posed several problems.

Living standards and employment still aren't on par despite trillions of payments from the western part of the country.

You still have a significant part of the East German population that looks back with a certain nostalgia to the time when there used to be a communist German state. Mostly people that felt like they were robbed of their identity, their home country they grew up in but also the losers of the reunification, people that had roles that really supported the system or those that were affected by the privatisation and the closing of non-competitive state-owned enterprises.

Well at least you get to know you aren't the only one starving, the whole country is starving so aside from party officials everyone got the tail end of it.

Everyone knows about the food shortages in the ussr. Unless you are old enough to remember the 60s which is the only time it was decent. And for your early post about free travel everyone knows that's bs too as people needed permission to travel out of there area and that's not even going into the fact that there were restricted cities

Most West Germans feel nothing but utter disgust for the former GDR.

They associate it primarily with it's inhumane spying machine, a surveillance apparatus that would hire civilians like your collegues, friends, family members and even lovers as informants.

They would change the course of your life (for example that denied university application) due to some critical opinion you uttered in public in front of a secret informant. They'd gaslight you, employ psychological warfare, imprison and torture you.

If you read about the privacy concerns of Germans then you feel find their root in this experience.

Nope. There was always good in the stores before the 90's. You don't even have any sources to backup your claim.

im guessing such things weren't common in small village/towns because who gives a shit/waste resources if hans is fucking a sheep at night?

There is a states holiday which celebrates the fall of the soviet union. The old state was a secret service hellhole. But people see society and the past live as good. Nobody would like to live in a socialist state anymore though. Now there are better opportunities.

Most people on here dislike it because Sup Forums is very middle class and only the richer people from poorer countries can post here

Real life opinion ranges from mixed to positive

Did any communist country help out in Africa to fight diseases?

>cato
>a libertarian think tank founded by the koch brothers
>u of chicago
>literally the epicenter of neoliberal doctrine

No there wasn't. Everyone can see the pictures

...

>da chicago boys ninjas assassinated another communist economy

Get over yourself. You see probably a 16 year old that never lefty his upper class suburb

Because the US cucked the USSR into spending a shitload of money on military.

*are

I keep telling people ITT that it wasn't that horrible but they don't listen. I also don't understand Balts on Sup Forums who constantly shit on everything while they have the lowest standard of living in whole Europe.
