Lauantai means fucking nothing. Lol.
If it was "bathday" it'd be pesupäivä
You took the Nordic word directly, not translating it
>be rest of europe
>wash once a year
>vikangz and shit come up with idea why not wash once a week instead of smelling like shit for a year
In Northern Germany people say "Sonnabend" (Eve of Sunday)
We also named Torsdag (thursday) etc after old gods like Tor and Odin etc.
Why did the other languages of europe(like dutch) take over those day names?
Vikings. They spread parts of their language all over the world.
Wouldn't it just be because the Dutch are Germanic and also worshipped Thor and Odin? Pretty sure the same is with Anglo-Saxon England.
A few of our week days derive from latin and are similar to yours
lunedì = dé luain
martedì = dé máirt
domenica = dé domhnaigh
kinda
wednesday=woden's day
i think woden is what the anglos worshipped
here we just say onsdag=odin's day
Dirty swedes have been bathing once a week for history while we came up with sauna because at least we understand the concept of hygiene
Estonia Confirmed nordic, welcome the club kääbik
