What does this graph represent?

read the filename

Ulster needs to up it's game

...

How does that contrast with the map of general illiteracy in Ireland?

kek

Fucksake

>be Irish
>England is having a civil war
>heh heh time to murder all the protestants

Fresh out of the oven

the eternal anglo strikes again

Ireland was unironically destined to be a superpower, the Anglo made quick work of that ambition

Where do you think the lazy Irishman stereotype came from?

Just couldn't be bothered to learn.

Maybe try /eire/?

>/Éire/
>speaking Irish
He should just go to some predominantly Irish villages.

ANGLO'D

lol

How the hell

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Famine_(Ireland)

I presume mandatory schooling in English and English settling played a big part.

why does everyone care so much about this

I think in the end it actually turned advantageous to Ireland that they don't use Irish primarily. Sure it's nice to have it for "muh culture and we wuzery" points but when it comes to economics this was way WAY more useful to them.

wonder when your country will start embracing this attitude skopje-friend :)

They will once you will my brother in denial :^)

Having your own language is a symbol of identity and culture. That only 5 % av Irish has it has native language is sad.

The fact that you're making this thread and not a thread about the lack of British speakers in East Anglia means something went right.

tfw sassenachs killed my beautiful language
tfw got taught zero(0) history of my country, only that of the UK as a whole

In all honesty, the root cause of this is Puritanism and Republicans

i was expecting a Sup Forums feud to come up

>that drop off on the border

That contrast shows more the the Republic's citizenry's overreporting of language ability rather than lack of Irish among the border towns in the North.

Do not desespair !
England will collapse and you'll be free soon

bear in mind irish is a required subject at primary and secondary level and for entry to third level. A broad swathe of the population can speak it proficiently.

Perfidious Albion and her cruel designs to murder the Gael in his cradle

>A broad swathe of the population

Of course, but proficiency is a tricky thing. Going from the Irishmen I've spoken to, people often think that going through school makes them automatic Gaeilgeoirí though they may not remember anything but the basics. Thus they mark on the census that yes, I speak Gaeilge, even though they couldn't hold a two minute conversation with someone from Cois Farraige.

We didn't kill em all

This is a great page for learning more about the crimes of the Anglo 2bh lads

they all emigrated peacefully to america

>A broad swathe of the population can speak it proficiently.
