God-awful cover. I hope it suggests nothing about the music.

Senile autist mumbling over heavy rock shit, moderately enjoyable.

>the fall
>ever having good covers

Another one? Seriously? Fucking Mark is never gonna give up. Is irritating as their late live performances?

hey, its their first full-length release since 2015

Going to check it out, but without any expectations, their last good records was 7 years ago after all.

Are there any Fall albums post-1985 that are complete shit and I should avoid? I'm currently making may way through their whole discog. Looking forward to their dancier albums.

Nope. Even the weakest is a 7/10.

bump

I've seen Mark drinking in Salford on multiple occasions and I have no idea how the drunk fucker is still kicking

>60 years old
>still firing bandmates
i think hell be fine

with threads like this mu doesn´t step into the trash can

Extricate is their best 90s album

Elena (his wife) is still the line up? She was the best thing that happened to the fall since 1985 imho

Nah, it's Levitate, also their most underrated and most experimental work

No, she's been out for about a year now. They had a new guy on synths when I saw them a month or two ago, but I don't know anything about him.

a hilarious album

He fired his own wife?

I think she quit, but yeah. I don't know anything about it though.

>tfw your wife quits your band

I wonder if Mark's getting another divorce

HE IS NOT
APPRECIATED

To me "code selfish" and "marshall suite" are great fall records, underrated as all their nineties output. is the fall expanding their sonic palette with explorations in electronic music, meanwhile the mainstream and underground scene had the “return of guitars” and rock “reinassance” at the early nineties (grunge, nirvana and all that shit)

code selfish (1992)

marshall suite (1999)

btw im not into radiohead, they are decent but i've found something interesting

-thom yorke on the marshall suite:

"Tom: "Now, talking of angry that ties very neatly onto next track.
Thom: "(unintelligible)
Tom: "Mr. Angry himself, Mark E. Smith.
Thom: "Yeah.
Tom: "I understand he’s just recently fired the umpteenth line-up of The Fall.
Thom: "I think... Made the best records for ten years and then fired everybody... well done! Ah... that’s the way to do it. Um... but actually this is from... that is a sterling record, but this is like, my favourite one of recent years, and this is “Shake-Off”; it’s from The Marshall Suite. It’s just... you know... It should have been played everywhere all the time. This is like... this is The Fall doing disco, as far as I’m concerned."

-and also there's a dj sessions of yorke with a code selfish song (birmingham school of business school) at 12:24

To me there´an influence of fall exercises of rock with electronica (code selfish, levitate, marshall suite) in Radiohead (eg, kid a and amnesiac), although in the latter group those exercises aren´t so interesting, are more depressing actually.

I don't like pretty much ANYTHING I've heard from them post 1985, it all just sounds completely self derivative to me as Mark Smith slowly loses his voice for the world to see. But to each his own, I know a lot of their fans really seemed to enjoy Your Future Our Clutter even though I personally hated it

Well yeah, I can agree with you. Nothing beats the old, and it's like Mark dosent care about consistency anymore.
Bend sinister had potential, (living too late is so goood) extricate was like a fresh start and celebral caustic was their most RAW record since hex enduction.
Levitate and the unutterable was good electronic records too.

I love that Glasto set. Trying not to face the crowd because he'd pissed his pants

actually he spilled champagne on their pants

Here you go man. Have a lukewarm review on me.

Jesus Christ. Need some good live Fall after that. Fuck.

>jimmy eat world's latest album ranked higher than that on pitchfork

what do you mean, pal?

This live performance was painful to watch.

i liked it. mark nowasays have developed a growling technique but he can sing too like the fall circa 2005

yeah but jimmy eat world is irrelevant shit nowadays and pitchfork is just an opinion based on their musical range scope

you take very much into account pitchfork opinion, aren't you, pal?

Best The Fall album

pavement is a very good band (the finest from the nineties), but not at the same height of the fall, the latter is at another level. even malkmus agrees with that
