Controversial Opinions

Say it! Get it off your chest now!

Best Wishes > Age of Quarrel

I've heard their entire discography and The Wall is my favourite Pink Floyd album.

Peopld who bitch about other peoples tastes, have no better tastes themselves, they just pretend to

rolling stones fucking suck

This was the best rap album of last year.

Other hot takes:
>Blueprint 3 was one of Jay Z's best albums
>Jay Z's album highlights are better than most of Kanye's
>KMD was better than half of DOOM's albums
>King Geedorah was better than Madvillainy

Post 69 yes

fucking hell m8, why tho?

also, post > homogenic desu

The 60s has been the worst decade in popular music since the 30s. Just leave the psychedelia stuff aside and think about the 60s and you'll be unable to name +10 good albums from the period.

same

I just love the aggressive and personal music that Roger was writing at the time. It just sounds so raw to me.

Alot of good jazz in the 60s, aside from psych and jazz it was shit though

Blue > Pinkerton

90s hip hop is overrated and I find most of it quite bland. Not to say that it didn't revolutionize hip hop, but I'm just sick of everyone praising biggie and pac and referring it to it as the 'golden era' of hip hop. Imo I think the stuff we got in the 21st century is better and full of more variety. Like I know we got shit like mumble and trap or whatever, but honestly rappers like Kendrick have topped biggie and pac before album-wise.

She's STILL hot.

I don't like The Velvet Underground

I wish I could be more into Pink Floyd but the times I try to start to listen to them I get really bored

its been done before is not a valid criticism.

>a lot of good jazz
>it's basically Davis, Coltrane and Mingus

sure

>inb4 free jazz

I Fucking hate all old school rock with the exception of Hendrix and ACDC. Literally everything else is trash. fuck the beatles, the ramones, fucking metallica, slayer. fuck it all.

RHCP is an insult to funk and funk rock but they are my favorite band of all time

New Order is better than Joy Division

Sup Forums is a good place to discover music

t. 15 yo self-proclaimed "Sup Forums-tant"

Sup Forums generals are god tier
anything else (as this thread) is utter shit

Successful musicians are mostly successful because of their personalities and charisma, the music only needs to be passable.

OK Computer is in the bottom half of Radiohead albums

Syro is the best Aphex Twin album

24 actually. oh and suicidal tendencies are pretty damn good. But generally I dislike classic rock bands. grew up playing music basically all my life. dad loved classic rock. but I never had the heart to tell him I hated the shit.

>old school rock
>puts every genre of rock and metal made before 2000 into that category
consider going to the doctor and seeing if you have mental problems

Soundcloud is a shitty website that deserves to fail

yeah I know I'm being broad and generalizing. but it's because I hate most rock of every genre through the 80's. I mean you cannot argue with me that metal isn't rock.

Ambient is the best genre of music and the logical progression of classical music given the innovation in the 50s and 60s

Well kinda biggie and definitely pac are hugely overrated because of their place in the east/west war and their untimely deaths
90s hip hop has awesome stuff its just not them

i'm a pleb who goes on Sup Forums mostly to talk about kanye west, kendrick lamar, daft punk etc. i don't even know how to get into new music.

I really like AJJ's music. People who Eat Other People and Can't Maintain are great albums. That said I do find the song American Tune definitely goes a step too far in terms white male guilt whining. Not heard anything beyond the first half of Knife Man so don't ask me to have opinions on anything beyond that.
>Inb4 whole thread gets derailed because I mentioned AJJ
Like most things that people love, 90's hip hop gets overglorified to FUCK.
Not nessecarily hot by my standards. but she's not gone to shit desu.
That's okay.

Asking Alexandria is one of the best metal bands in the past 20 years.

Ive never heard a single beatles album and have no interest in listening to one

In Rainbows would be a 10/10 if House of Cards wasn't on it.

Tiny Tim was one of the best artists of the 60's

>insult to funk
George Clinton and Bootsy Collins like them, so are they really?

dude the last half is great, it does get a little slow with love in your heart and no one, but big bird is a great closer to the album considering the whole album is just him stating how shitty the world can be. and ajj is a great band, the sharp piercing and catchy lyrics and the catchy tunes, and the emotional singing.

I actually agree with that, I like Cro-Mags doing metal way more than Cro-Mags doing hardcore. For some reason people crucify you when you say that.

radiohead is so laughably bad
thom yorke should not sing

Yeezus was fucking garbage and Kanye's worst album

pretty sure this is literally only controversial on this website

The Beatles made some of the most obnoxious music I've ever heard. The reason people love them so much is because everyone in the 60s was dude weed-tier and they mixed it using cool effects (which I can appreciate). The actual music, though, is just awful.

And this might not be unpopular here, but rap is the worst genre by far and gets surprisingly worse every month

i listen to Deafheaven

Radiohead is so boring

I agree 100% its dalek for normies that are too lazy to explore the experimental hip hop genre.

ISIS loving Obama is the main cause for white rock music to have been flushed out and rap and hip hop to take over as America's music

Muse is a great band with very talented members

Art Blakey?

punk floyd is okay, the beatles annoy me, the who wrote really good songs. bob dylan is great but he probably just wrote bullshit and stuck gold.

Zappa is the most overrated artist in modern history. 99% of his catalog was cringy toilet humor lyrics over him showing off with lame, pointless guitar solos. Can, Faust and Beefheart were the true innovators.

>Sup Forums generals are god tier
Which ones? Chart, Kpop, Grimes or that wonderful place /classical/?

Sure, if we're talking about top 40 acts.

>Asking Alexandria is one of the best metal bands in the past 20 years.
So, this is a /shitposting/ general?

>bob dylan is great but he probably just wrote bullshit
How dare you? But then again, this is just a /shitposting/ general.

>Everything I know about Zappa came from shitposts on Sup Forums

>I've heard their entire discography and The Wall is my favourite Pink Floyd album.
Agreed, it's just a brilliantly thorough execution of an idea
>New Order is better than Joy Division
>Sup Forums is a good place to discover music
Agreed
>Well kinda biggie and definitely pac are hugely overrated because of their place in the east/west war and their untimely deaths
Agreed

The Ramones are one of the blandest bands on the planet. They may have created the blueprint for punk, but nearly everyone that followed them improved on it.
Big Beat and Madchester/Baggy are great genres that deserve revivals.
Krautrock is a real genre, and it's amazing.
Nearly everything referred to as "sporkcore" is great.
Fantano isn't incredible, but he's a decent critic who explains his opinions well. I understand why he has an audience.
No rapper has as of yet topped Aesop Rock.

To Be Kind has some fantastic songs but is overall in the bottom half of Swans' studio discography.

Hail to the Thief is Radiohead's best album.

Victorialand is Cocteau Twins' best album.

Goo is Sonic Youth's worst album.

Side 2 of Remain in Light is better than side 1.

The post-Disintegration Cure albums are better than a lot of people make them out to be.

I think dark side of the moon is pink Floyd's least good album

>CONTROVERSIAL

>The post-Disintegration Cure albums are better than a lot of people make them out to be.
That's not cotraversal, it's just a fact, Wish and Bloodflowers are both fucking great, better than their first three.

King Crimson > Pink Floyd

Now that is just being a contrarian

>first 3

Eh, I dunno about Faith. That album's only marginally lesser to Pornography, I'd call it their first truly great album. And I was including Wild Mood Swings, the S/T and 4:13 Dream in that designation. They're all underrated. But yes, Wish and Bloodflowers are quite handily the best of that set of albums.

Witness is the best album released this year

Beach House is the greatest pop band of the 21st century

i stand by my opinion. i love the man but i find myself thinking that i'm the one retroactively assigning meaning to his lyrics.

ITAOTS is a thoroughly mediocre album that people mostly just praise to look like they know something.

Every album sounds the same.

a lot of metal just relies on pushing faux-edgy aesthetics that were maybe a little subversive 30 or 40 years ago and all seems to aim for the same "we think we're being provocative by stringing together blast beats and guitars into one monotonous stretch the same way most other metal bands do" shit musically

Not at all, especially when comparing their debut to teen dream and onward. Sure they're songs aren't very varied in form, but they have a very spiritual quality to them that makes them ascend "just pop songs" to me.

>People hate hip hop becuase they hate black people most of the time

Metal is one of my favorite genres and I think this.

I can't stand MF Doom purely because I haven't the slightest fucking clue of what the hell he's even talking about 90% of the time, and I think the vast majority of his fans are the same but like him in order to appear of sophisticated taste.

what kinda stuff do you listen to? so far i've mostly just listened to drone/doom and a couple of things that'd fall under the banner of 'experimental metal' bc my only real exposure to more "normal" metal has been from a couple of relatives blaring it so i don't really know how the fuck to actually try starting with it

>apart from Tommorow never knows, Side B of Revolver is pure filler that puts its score down from the 10/10 side A is to a 7/10
>ISTGISTV is, by far, the best AnCo album
>Eagles of death metal is better than Queens of stone age
>Let it be is my favourite beatles album (as an album, as a collection of songs is MMT)
>i like the later period of Rolling Stones (Bridges of Babylon, Blue and Lonesome) much more than the classic 70s period of the Rolling stones (sticky fingers, exile on main street)
>the only two songs i like, from the beach boys, after Smiley Smile are from Mike Love (Sumahama and student demonstration time)
>the best version of Streets of Laredo is by Christopher Lee
>pictures of you is, by far, the worst song on disintegraton, and the only one on it that could be considered filler
>the black keys are one of the best bands nowadays, although Brothers and Turn Blue are shit
>royal blood is also a great band, even if it has cringy lyrics
>even the bends is much better than OK Computer
>Blink-182 could have been as great as The Beatles, if they had keeping maturing their talent after Blink-182, which is a great album
>Nickelback is not bad

And my most bizarre opinion:
>cruising with Ruben & the jets is my favourite Frank Zappa album

I honestly love division bell and wish you were here more desu

I mean, they are the most influential band ever, why should you?

Lmao

unless you play jazz dont pretend to understand jazz

>>the only two songs i like, from the beach boys, after Smiley Smile are from Mike Love (Sumahama and student demonstration time)
what about surf's up pham

>likes ACDC
>fuck the beatles, the ramones, fucking metallica, slayer. fuck it all.

wew

Tremendous Sea of Love is Passion Pit's best work. Sad that the rollout for it was terrible and hardly anyone cares for them anymore.

ac/dc is just a basic awkward mashing together of a bunch of sounds that barely even rocked in '73, let alone now

and angus young's voice is fucking hideous

Yeezus is hot garbage. One of the least interesting albums of the 2010s.

Amnesiac is Radiohead's worst and Hail to the Thief is their second best

Swans fucking suck. Especially their 80s stuff. Their early 90s stuff is alright but pretty dull, and their stuff from SFTB to the present is boring as hell,

Vespertine > The others
I agree even though jazz was pretty good then.
Is that a controversial opinion? Don't most people think that?
I agree 100%
I agree 200%
The Ramones aren't really old rock, aren't they pop-punk?
I'm kinda in a similar position. I'm a pleb but I'm pretty fine with it.
I'm still keeping this in my post.
*Insert Scaruffi quote*

listening to influential music results in dissapointment because you can't appreciate everything that's new for its time, but has been copied in music you've heard already. so it sounds generic

you have to read the lyrics

Amnesiac >>> Kid A > Everything else

not controversial, just a fact honestly

I can't stand the slacker yet squeaky-clean "indie rock" these days, it's so much more boring than it used to be. Also emo revival was a mistake and a hindrance to indie becoming more interesting again. Finally, going electronic isn't selling out but going the synth/electropop route sure FUCKING is (unless it's cold, but we're not in the cold war anymore so who cares about sounding cold amirite).

best new order imo

I have given Astral Weeks multiple listens and still find it boring

Elliott Smith fucking sucks

Real Estate is even worse. Might not be very controversial here, but everyone I know is obsessed with them. It is some of the most generic, uninspired rock music I have ever heard.

Is that a controversial choice? It's been my favorite album by them all my life

Come to Daddy EP is Aphex Twin's best thing he ever put out

Isn't it though

Why does Cherry Bomb get so much hate? Find your wings, blow my load, 2seater, okaga. Yeah, buffalo and keep da O's is awful, but the rest is at least on par with wolf.
flower > cherry = wolf > goblin = bastard

I literally have no fucking idea why k-pop is so popular. 3/4 of it sounds like a autistic women with turrets getting beat with a wooden spoon.

>first 3
better include Boys Don't Cry

even though another user has explained it pretty well,Faith contains the reasons why most fags would love The Cure. It's basically a prototype of the rollercoaster that was going to come next.

Serene, grey, dark ambients and Robert pulling his existential emotions in a record.

About the post Disintegration,Wish and Bloodflowers keep the quality, not controversial.I'm still waiting for a new record better than 4:13 though.

I can't get through an entire listen of Loveless

givie it time
headphones,isolation and patience

never expect highlights or something to instantly enjoy and just focus on what you listen at that moment

it took me 8 months to give it a 2nd chance and unexpectedly enjoy it or have a less shit experience than my first time(I had a headache before What You Want and I stopped and never come back)

that hapened to me and probably more faggots out there

Radiohead is a boring, unremarkable band and I have no idea why they're so revered. They have a few great tracks like Idioteque and Pyramid Song but that's it.

I only liked them during my depressed phase. Its miserable music outside a few tracks. Thom's voice is grating

Absolutely agree

choa is the greatest female musician in the world but this is more of a fact
