Run Away With Me
Royals is the only contender and even still it falls behind Somebody That I Used To Know by a long shot
I can't
close but no
Some Nights would be the obvious answer
Beyonce - Countdown
get lucky/lose yourself to dance
>beyonce
lol ok
This
yeah Get Lucky is a perfect pop song
that song holds up 6 years later
I don't understand how this even got popular. It's a genuinely great song.
Man i fucking hate this song.
Everything about it pisses me off, its kind of incredible, the instrumental, the weird vocals, the phrasing of the melody with the rising notes, hell, even the clip is annoying.
Looking at this guy face make me want to punch him so hard i dont know why please help me
Does pic related count?
Nothing else even comes close
24K Magic.
Somebody that I Used to Know is practically adult contemporary. And that's okay, but it's hardly a pure pop song.
>gotye will merely be remembered as a one hit wonder
>no one will never give pic related a chance because of this song
it hurts
It was the best Sting song to come out in a long time, I'll give you that.
It's literally Seville by Luiz Bonfá with SWPL lyrics
Tenacious D the Devil in the movie rock off scene
Or
Master Ken 100 attacks to the groin and speed hitting
-fbfounder.Native
The first seven sounds like an exact copy, but the rest just seems to be an inspiration for Someone I Used To Know.
youtu.be
this is pop r-right?
>but the rest just seems to be an inspiration for Someone I Used To Know.
could be, that is.
Ew. That song is terrible.
Explain
call me maybe
are you kidding
You're terrible
Its that Fun song right? It's annoying and I heard it twice a day. "Whoawhoah whoah oh whoah woah oh." I just don't like it.
My Girls
agreed, song got old really quick
the term for the WHOAs is the "millennial whoop" btw
It's literally Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel. It's impossible not to like.
I cannot
You are correct
your favorite martian's cover of gotye's somebody that i used to know
>It's literally Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel. That's a great reason not to like it.
ftfy
So what's it like having no taste?
Not an argument. Any song that's overplayed gets annoying. Doesn't change the fact that it's a gorgeous pop song
Starboy
i don't know, i'm not the person vouching for fun
Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
REEEEEEEEEEEEE IT'S BEEN AROUND FOREVER IT'S JUST SUDDENLY POPULAR BECAUSE THE SAME 6 PEOPLE WRITE LIKE EVERY POP SONG
>someone is actually defending a fucking fun. song.
go to bed jack antonoff
This actually might be it.
It's so good that even though I objectively don't like the song, I still kinda do whenever it's on.
Born This Way or gangnam style.
I know, just bullshitting
That was the worst song in the movie, and possibly the worst Disney song ever made.
...
Fun. is bad how?
Get Lucky
Happy
The Hills
He's just somebody that we used to know.
EDIT: Thanks for the gold, kind stranger!
They're the epitome of shitty, self-important pop music.
Party Rock Anthem
do you get all your music from fueled by ramen
is 21 pilots and paramore on your playlist as well
Some vague platitude about "pretentious hipsters"
Sounds like every Sup Forumscore band like Of Montreal
Its easily the best song. How Far Ill Go is the worst. If you really believe either are the worst Disney songs ever then you havent seen very many Disney movies
Yeah it's impossible to hate this song.
youtube.com
Where is my prize?
Holy shit guys, it's just a good pop song by mainstream standards is all I'm saying.
Not really.
I was thinking about this topic recently and these were the three songs that immediately popped into my head. What is it about them that makes them stand out from the average radio-pop song?
>That was the worst song in the movie
Maybe
>worst disney song ever made
Hell no. Its still a solid 7/10
Pumped Up Kicks
I'm telling you guys,
It's 24K Magic by Bruno Mars.
>no one has said Runaway yet
How?
It was the worst song in the movie but there are much worse Disney songs my dude
when they were released, they sounded like nothing on the radio
now everyone on the radio's doing what they were doing years ago
in a really retarded way, they were ahead of their time
...
The only correct answers ITT
I like a few of the songs posted in this thread. I have no idea how Gotye got popular. Shut Up Dance was nice to hear on the radio two years ago. It's basically just Jessie's girl, but I like Jessie's Girl and they aren't distractingly similar. The rest of the album was better though. Style was a really good pop song. Only one I liked from her last album.
XO Tour Life
Human Sadness
Uptown Funk
are you a happy person?
Runaway by Electric Youth?
By Kanye
f the haters, fun. is amazing.
I'm the third guy. I'm agreeing with you.
They hate it because "hipsterism" but it really ain't a far cry from a band like The Mountain Goats
r/music is more your style, I think.
>implying that's possible
TIL that Pumped Up Kicks was released in 2011 and not 2006. Weird.
>They hate it because "hipsterism" but it really ain't a far cry from a band like The Mountain Goats
You're high as fuck. Fun is nothing like The Mountain Goats.
Dubs don't lie
DES
Hotline Bling
this shit is sonic melatonin
THIS HAS BEEN A SWITCHUP
Man, fuck off with that shit. Reflect on your lonely existence. This is why.
this is true.
Sup Forums loved Fun. when Aim & Ignite came out. Some Nights isn't as good, but the only reason the band is hated is because they became popular.
i never heard runaway on the radio
all the shit in this thread is some radio shit, runaway was never that mainstream
This. And Some Nights is a surprisingly consistent album, although the first half overshadows the second because they're all hits.
i wish
uplifting inspirational soft garbage for the young at heart
generic marching beat with easy yet powerful melodic vocals. perfect radio music if you are gaming on your smartphone while mummy drives you to school.
It's one step above coldplay.
Unironically this
