economically neoliberal, which is to say I'm a capitalist who realizes that capitalism is a product of careful regulation and legislation and not just some natural state of nature like sunlight or gravity
I don't particularly like economic inequality, and I realize how bad it is, but I only really care about it insofar as it is detrimental to median household income--I don't think income inequality is an evil in and of itself
I favor free trade and global commerce.
socially, I'm a progressive interventionist--I think racism, sexism, and homophobia are real, and unlike income inequality, they are absolute evils that the federal government has the power to address without hurting GDP
I'm a realist in terms of foreign policy who hopes for peace but believes very strongly in speaking softly and carrying a big stick which means:
1) not hitting people with the stick unless you absolutely fucking have to 2) not defunding the stick and throwing it away 3) speaking softly--not blustering, not yelling; whispering
man-made climate change is real, the factory jobs we've lost are never ever ever coming back no matter what you do--and besides, we actually have a surplus of factory jobs that nobody wants
So, economically center-left, socially interventionist--not authoritarian, but certainly not libertarian, and I favor smart power. I call myself a social democrat. I fucking love Hillary Clinton so fucking much and think of her as an absolute role model
