Being redpilled is understanding not only how the world works around you, but also the reverse of that. It's understanding your place in the world and how your actions would affect the world and trying to live a virtuous life from what you've learned.

So no - doing whatever the fuck you want isn't redpilled.

Don't get me wrong, I like Bowie and think he did more good than harm, and no doubt he's more successful than most of us will ever be - but success doesn't mean the same as being redpilled.

For example, take the majority of Hollywood actors. They are rich, attractive and successful, but many of them are in a bubble and are ignorant of the outside world. By your definition these people are redpilled because they are successful and sleep with whoever they want.

And what about the hedonistic NEET who lives his life consuming everything he wants online? The sort that's extremely introverted and genuinely has no desire to change. Depends on what you think being redpilled is.

I generally equate being redpilled with neitzcheism; striving for progress based on love of self and driven only by your nature, not slave to anyone else whether they be "superfluous beings", God, states, or 'muh ancestors'. Success isn't about being rich and famous, nor hedonistic. Being redpilled is all about having power, or the Will to Power, and accepting the responsibility of the 'master' mentality instead of slave. This doesnt necessarily mean needlessly exerting your will over others, although that can be the case if your will is create something that requires other people follow you or raise a strong family, but more importantly to have total power over yourself, even if it's predominantly a mental victory.

As for your examples, perhaps some actors are in their position out of self love for their art or a desire to create something, and some are there cus they suckled the right teat. I can't say cus I don't know them. Nietzche calls such people "The Famous Wise Ones" in a derogatory sense. Likewise with neets, maybe some of them are doing something with their lives, it's not really my concern (or anyone elses) one way or the other.

Bowie pushed himself and his art far out of his comfort zone, he proved could have been a dime a dozen pop rocker but he eschewed greater fame in the pursuit of SOMETHING (i don't really know what). He was an explorer, whether you think he found anything useful or not.

The man was even able to incorporate his own death into his final work of art, reflecting a sort of power very few people, rich or not, have achieved.
