As a general rule, in most homogeneous (or relatively, like Australia outside of capital cities is largely homogeneous) countries, people don't have romantic interests outside of their group. Often not even friends. However this means that the exoticism will be really strong in some of them, just don't mistake the exoticism for actually appreciation or general appreciation of the group.
Most Japanese are not interested in anyone other than their fellow Japanese and their own cultural/social bubble. This is about the same in most of the world.
