I know what this sentence is supposed to mean but the grammar seems weird to me. I've seen adverbs come before は before but I'm not sure why it's allowed, and I've never seen any grammar entries about that type of grammar (adverb + は + verb). Can someone explain the meaning of this grammar or point me to any sources that explain it?
「君が代」というのは、元々、天皇を称える歌とされていた訳ではなかった
「君が代」の「君」は第2人称の「君」であって、「あなた」ということ
歌詞の出典は古今和歌集の
『我が君は 千代にやちよに さざれ石の 巌となりて 苔のむすまで』(国歌大観番号343番)
で、君は広くもちいる言葉であって天皇とは限らない
万葉から古今和歌集、源氏物語など「君」は相手への呼びかけとして広く用いられている。
実は、一般には「宴会の最後の歌」「お開きの歌」「舞納め歌」として使われていたらしく、『曽我物語』の曽我兄弟や『義経記』の静御前などにもその例がある。
ちなみに、京都の祇園では
『君が代は千代にやちよにさゞれ石の岩ほと成りて苔のむすまで』
と、わざと変形されて歌われるお座敷小唄だった
ここでは「岩」と「ほと」が掛け言葉になっている
