>> Halloween This the prestigious slasher franchise, They need to treat it like such, they need a mature cast of characters, no teen bitches, Myers needs to go back to being a quite subtle unstoppable phantom of doom and they need a director that can do severe suspense & atmosphere. Cary Fukunaga & Denis Villeneuve would be my picks.
>> Friday the 13th I still want just a simple sequel to the 2009 film DESU, picking up days if not hours later have him slaughtering another group of kids while at the same time avoiding swat teams/bounty hunters combing the area for him in the wake of the 09 massacre.
>> A Nightmare on Elm Street I think they are going to let this one die. Robert Englund IS Freddy Kruger and he isn't coming back for more then maybe 2 more movies. I liked JEH, give him a moderate amount of more humor and a more traditional burn style to his face and I personally would like a sequel to the 2010 film which does completely new stuff instead of rehashing old plots but It ain't gonna happen. IF they recast Freddy again... Tom Hiddleston I think would be a good idea.
>> Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Let it die.

> Halloween >prestigious slasher franchise If it didn't have any sequels you'd be right. The series went to shit quicker than Texas Chainsaw Massacre's. Friday and Nightmare both had more mileage.
Nolan Lewis
They need to go back to a clean sleek look for the Halloween films, the dirty gritty hobo look doesn't work for the franchise, it fit the Zombie films but that is it.

slashers are the 2nd worst horror genre behind found footage
Chase Taylor
No, the original remains in the top 2 best Slashers ever made and 2 is pretty much just a great extension of that. 3 is its own thing but it solid. 4 is great. 5 is good-ish 6 is when it went bad. h20 is good. Resurrection is the worst. Zombie's films are ok.

Nightmare on Elm Street has a lot of potential of benefit from a remake, what with what we've learned about the science of sleep in the last few decades and advancements in computer effects that could actually serve to benefit the psychedelic, dreamlike aesthetic that the series is known for. It's one of the few horror franchises out there that I would mind them going CG heavy with.
I've felt this way for over a decade now, and seeing films like The Nightmare have only furthered this in my mind.
It really is a shame that that Platinum Dunes squandered the opportunity with their boring, piss poor retread that failed to do anything new or interesting with the concept.
Hunter Diaz
Agreed with your larger point, I would not call 2010 piss poor but it was a boring retread.
Easton Sanchez
I disagree, I would go as far as to say it's straight up bad movie even ignoring it's connection.
Ugly cinematography/lighting, awful Freddy makeup, a lack of gore, a lack of interesting or memorable kills, a shitty predictable twist, poor pacing in general, and a total lack of subtly as it over explains literally everything for the retarded popcorn munching masses.
I fell asleep during my first attempted to watch it. When you're falling asleep in a horror film about a man who kills you in your dreams, that's a fucking problem.
