...

As great as Clarence undeniably was, at the end of the day he did fold
Now Jones on the other hand........well, don't mess with Jones man - he'll make sushi out of you.

Yeah man, you'd better be careful.
I hear Jones is a real shark.

Who asked you, twerp?

it's classic contemporary sci-fi done right.

the story and accompanying social commentary is very simple and well executed, the pacing is nearly perfect, they had the perfect people to play their perspective parts.

It's also has a shit load of humor in it that doesn't really fuck with the tone of the movie.

What I liked most was how, back in 1987, they thought the technology needed to create a 'robocop' would exist today

He was going the strings, that's to be expected from some corporate big wig, but Clarence took enjoyment out of the dirt he was doing.

Because Verhoeven

From the director of Showgirls.

Because it shoots corporativism right in the fucking chest.

It is a necessary tumor to have this cancer called "modern society" to prosper

Best fucking office ever

violence, humor and social commentary wrapped in a perfect package
danm i love this movie

I've watched this movie probably around 60 times I just never get tired of it. The extreme violence is awesome and robocop is just so fucking virtuous. I love this movie more than anything else I could write poems about my love for it but I have been up since noon of yesterday and am just about to go to sleep, I'd buy that for a dollar.

This guy is the reason its so great.

How was the remake?

Lacked the edge that made the movie great, as usual with this kind of things

Completely forgettable and bland

i think Paul would have been a perfect fit for a Dredd movie. much as i love the Dredd reboot i felt that the humor from the comics was sorely missing.

Robocop was adapted from dredd

really? i knew that it wasn't an easy production and Paul didn't even want to do it at first before his wife changed his mind.

Watchable, but bland and completely unnecesary. You simply can't improve perfection. Plus, the haf-assed attempt of doing social commentary completely fells on its face. You know, it's why I like Robocop 2 even with all its faults, the people making the movie obviously recognized that there was no way they would top the original, and decided to just go bonkers with the concept.

IMO the only semi-clever thing the remake does, is reverse Robo's situation and make him start completely human and become more robotic as the movie goes on. It's kinda of sad (and Murphy IS a sad, tragic character) when you realize that every time shit goes real and the visor goes down, it's not actually Murphy doing the asskicking and he isn't even aware of it.

What killed the remake for me was how utterly boring and lifeless the villains were. The Clarence Boddicker analogue was shit, and it was ass how the Omni president suddendly pulls the villain card out of hiss at the end.

I kinda liked how the remake makes Murphy's deal both better (his family is still there, and for the most part he is still himself) and worse (the combat software taking over, him being COMPLETELY dependant of the lab to keep living) than it was in the original.

this is the only decent scene in the remake, the rest is very bland and boring
