Despite AA (Art Angels) popularity, my favorite album of Grimes is actually Visions (2012). The production on this album feels more raw, the same way Pretty Hate Machine felt. Grimes have even mentioned that Trent Reznor is an inspiration. Visions feels like Claire's 100% own creation. Which I think is a major factor to my enjoyment of it.

yeah, those visions - phm comparisons make sense. visions is grimes' raw and unadulterated creativity on display. no music industry mercenaries to interfere with her vision.

Good blog post

>no music industry mercenaries to interfere
Same case as with Art Angels desu. It's just that it was made for a different target musical niche.
Alhough with that said my personal favorite is Halfaxa/Darkbloom.

Have you been keeping up with the news about her next album? I don't have the quote in front of me atm, but one of the comments Grimes has made about it is that she's specifically aiming to spend dramatically LESS time on the production stage of things (than she did on Art Angels) so that it is rawer sounding.

Bump

Makes sense to me

I swear no song makes me happier than "Rosa" which will probably never be played live again...

The first time I listened to her discography (chronologically) in full, Rosa was the song where I really started to sit up and listen.

That's a bad analogy. PHM was good but TDS was clearly their masterpiece.
