When I was younger (until my 18th birthday) my parents managed to convince me that garlic bread was made from 'garlic wheat', which was wheat that grew in puddles of crushed garlic mixed with water. They even paid a farmer to put some wheat in a garlic puddle and explain the process to me.
Then they told me the truth when I turned 18, and my 18th birthday present was literally a piece of stale garlic bread they had frozen 10 years before.
