James Bond

So I finished all of justified and now my thing is watching all the bond films that are free on Amazon prime (watched a couple when I was younger though) my main question is should I watch never say never again even though it's just a remake of Thunderball?

Never Say Never Again is an abomination, even the worst films of the official series are masterpieces in comparison.

>wasting time on bond instead of watching the flint movies

Even worse than on her majesty's secret service? Or the last brosman one?

>Even worse than on her majesty's secret service?
I'll try not to sperg out because I know it's one of the most divisive films in the series. Some love it, others hate. Personally I consider it one of the best Bond films

>Or the last brosman one?
It's far worse than Die Another Day

Fuck you OHMSS is GOAT

I've just heard that George Lazenbes(?) performance was sub par since he was a model and not an actor

Never heard of them

they're the kino of spy movies

He isn't amazing or anything but I think his performance works. His vulnerability benefits the film because of its more romantic nature compared to other Bond movies. Honestly it isn't something Connery would have been able to pull off

don't bother, they are dumb parodies and like all Bond knockoffs they miss the mark on everything that makes the 007 films so wonderful

even the Matt Helm movies with Dean Martin are better

I found them quite entertaining, are you sure you didn't just take them too seriously?

Also 2 more questions. In goldfinger why didn't the military just shoot down pussy's airplanes and why didn't goldfinger try to steal the gold instead of nuking it. ( haven't finished it either I got like 14 more minutes)

You're the worst person ever

Irradiating the gold causes the value of Chinese gold and his gold to skyrocket.

But why not just steal as much as they can. He's already been shown that he can smuggle gold and he'd have more gold with a higher value (still shaping up to be one of my favorite bond films so far though)

It's not that they aren't entertaining, it's that are nothing more than throwaway entertainment. All of the "spy parody" films of that era are no more than that.

Something that is somewhat similar in style but actually remarkable would be pic related

He already had plenty of gold, no point in wasting time stealing more when he could ruin the USA's supply causing his own stock to multiply in value

That said it was a stupid scheme, and the film itself rather overrated among Bond movies

It is memorable though because it's the first time we get to see a lot of what makes a bond film a bond film (i.e. The over the top villain the goofy gadgets he gets and the first use of an Aston Martin) plus it has one of the most memorable lines from the films being "no mr bond I expect you to die"

OHMSS is a great movie, brilliantly shot, with a excellent script. The problem is that Lazenbe isn't a great bond. If Connery had that script it would be one fo the best bonds.

NO, DO NOT WATCH NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN. It should not exist.

It's certainly influential, what bothers me most how Bond spends half of the movie as Goldfinger's prisoner. It completely kills the momentum of the movie's first half. Not only that but the climax is dumb even by Bond standards, like we're supposed to belief tens of thousands of soldiers can perfectly play dead in hours notice and Goldfinger doesn't even bother to make sure the gas really worked. And Pussy gave up making a fortune and betrayed her boss just because Bond's cock was that good

Mannequin challenge I guess and I just finished it and holy crap is goldfinger a dumbass

Connery would have been shit in OHMSS. Anyone who thinks the movie would better with him in it is an idiot

Connery plays a cold-blooded badass who treats women like objects. The film would not have worked at all with him in it, because he simply isn't a believable romantic lead. No one would have bought the idea that he actually loved Tracy, not for a second. This would have ruined the impact of the ending and the scenes of him romancing her with Louis Armstrong in the background would have been cringe-worthy as fuck

Can someone explain though why out of all the bonds they remade it was Thunderball though and moreover why they waited nearly 20 years to do it?

because Kevin McClory helped write Thunderball and Ian Fleming tried to screw him over. He eventually won against Fleming in court and was allowed to make Bond movies but only if they were adaptations of Thunderball

Thus, Never Say Never Again was born

They're all fun to watch, but not if you're marathoning them. Them you'll get bored fast. Don't do this.

Tfw it's been 4 days and I'm 3 movies in and 20 minutes into Thunderball

Should I even watch Craig Bond after Casino Royale? I just don't feel the urge to watch the rest even though I enjoyed Casino.

From what I remember (and I was like in 5th grade at the time) solace was just boring like he mopes around the desert but Skyfall is pretty good and sees him ditch a lot of the goofy gadgets for some more realistic gear. Plus the villain is amazing

Quantum is god tier
