Does Sup Forums collect vinyl? Have you made any cool purchases recently?
Vinyl Thread
>vinyl
fucking soyboys
Just ordered a copy of the Twin Peaks season 3 soundtrack off amazon earlier today
Usually I don't like to order vinyl online but it was half of the average price on discogs so hey
Oh, and it was only 16 bucks which is pretty good for a new double album
>he fell for the vinyl meme
No, but I collect CDs and DVDs.
>tfw live in rural Canada so have to order all my music online
>tfw shipping for a record from the States is at least $15
Denzel Curry sent me a free slipmat because the 13 vinyl was delayed by like a week or something.
I should also have the Hoops Tapes #1-3 vinyl coming this week, which is pretty neat.
Yeah
I recently got the Spoon/Mute reissues of Tago Mago and Future Days
Yesterday I ordered Rock Bottom from a seller on discogs
Last week I got Spirit of Eden with the 24bit audio dvd
Something I've discovered is that $20-30 reissues really aren't as bad as people make them out to be. Unless an album was hugely popular or very niche, you rarely save much money at all (if you don't actually pay more) when you buy used from discogs and pay for shipping compared to buying a new reissue.
Also, unless you're shelling out insane amounts of money for first pressings, modern reissues beat out most older repressings for audio quality. Obviously there are dud labels (4 men with beards) but generally I feel like an idiot for falling for the "no modern reissues" meme for so long when reissues are often great, you can get a mint condition record for $5 more than you would pay for a beat up, slightly warped copy of the same used record on 100gram vinyl from the 70's
Poorfags gonna poor, I guess
I've got a newer reissue of Tago Mago as well, and it sounds fine to me. Doesn't help that older records tend to be super overpriced where I am and the thrift stores never have anything decent.
I think the original pressing meme is just a collection/autism thing.
Just got this compilation of Canadian Christmas songs from 1956-66. Cheesy at times but fun.
This. The markup on original pressingsis so insane that I go with reissues the majority of the time.
Those Can reissues are particularly good, I've compared the Future Days cut to a FLAC rip of the original issue and its almost indistinguishable aside from better overall clarity and seperation between instruments
Pic, etc.
Was thinking of getting that. Price was like $30 when it first got listed, I might grab if it the price has gone down.
Nice. Any other reissues of older stuff (Can or otherwise) you would recommend? I've got the 45th anniversary repress of Ziggy Stardust but haven't opened it.
My last acquisition was Pure Guava reissue that was recently released. Pre-ordered tons of records, still expecting them.
Also next week there's gonna be a record fair here, not sure if I'll go
Yeah I finally found an affordable copy of Yes's Fragile and I went for it over a $30 reissue but it has a slight bowl warp and there's crazy sibilance on South side of the sky along with ridiculous surface noise across the entire disk, should have just paid for a new copy or kept playing my mp3s. I'd be fine buying used records of this quality at $5 but paying $15-$25 for this kind of shit is dumb compared to buying new for another $5-$15
Nick Drake recent reissues are one example of quality reissues, when the originals, even the represses from late 70s/early 80s are pretty rare. Just get the European Back to Black ones, avoid the US releases.
I backed a kickstarter for Polygondwanaland vinyl. Preordered a lot of other records as well, but that was my last purchase
I picked up GodWeenSatan last week. 2010 Reissue that Ween oversaw themselves because they weren't happy with the quality of the original pressing of it (least that's what the record store dude told me)
For krautrock, Astralwerk's Neu! reissues are also solid, and good luck finding an original pressing for an affordable price.
Is it any good? Because it's still handled by Plain recs.
Wish they could release the remastered edition in vinyl, with all the bonus tracks
What I wouldn't give for a repress of the first Kraftwerk album. Which Neu! album should I cop?
bump
I dunno, imo its 2 > 1 > '75 from their full length catalogue. Can't really go wrong with your personal favorite though.
>putting in a preorder for the Thunder Perfect Mind repress
Tibet said they were doing Ruine, Soft Black Stars and Sleep Has His House too. WHEN
Fuck man, I need Sleep has his house
