Market Cap 49.43B
no way disney wastes 50B on something they can build for millions
Fuuuuck that shit. Disney needs to just chill for a minute.
Will unsub the second it goes through
i would literally be out.
fucking disney
Does Disney even have that much money to just spend on buyouts
Yes.... let's have all content directed by a single company, sounds perfect...
what does this mean exactly?
>You are now realizing that the "Disney will take over the entire entertainment world" joke is becoming realer by the day
I'm scared lads
Welp, Netflix is fucked.
they want to compete with amazon and hbo
I'm cancelling if this happens desu
Disney isn't the only thing you should worry about.
>people think this is bad
Think about a multi-national conglomerate owning a streaming service. They literally have the licenses for like 90% of all media.
If anything, the buyout should be denied on the basis of it creating a monopoly on the service.
As long as they don't raise the price over say 15 buck a month I don't give a shit. It's not worth that to me. I bet they will add commercials though and in that case I'm out.
netflix is worth $50 billion
disney is worth 150 billion, but only has 5 billion in cash
they couldn't just buy it tomorrow, but they could put together a deal with debt and stock
doubt they will, they have a reason to be afraid of starting a bidding war and somebody else buying or partnering with netflix
>Soon there will be only one
I guess /cyberpunk/ really is happening
>We have never sought to become a monopoly. Our products are simply so good that no one feels the need to compete with us
On the one hand, I hate Netflix and would love to see it bought out, on the other hand, fuck the mouse.
The best thing is some chink company buys it out.
>buying a streaming service that has past it's peak because everyone is releasing their own platforms now
>Disney is buying Netflix
>Thoughts?
Yes, you should learn to fucking read.
It's not a confirmation. It's speculation
Idiot. Your topic is shit.
AT&T spent 85 Billion to buy Time Warner.
That's nice.
It's a matter of time before ads appearing during their shows and subscription fees take a hike.
>Notable properties
>MTV
LEL
>Disney charges $30/month raising the price $2/month forever
>Ditches all rated R content
>heavily censors all shows
> punisher quipkino series
Warner owns Time but who owns Space?
plz no
>punisher quipkino
You are acting like Netflix created their Marvel shows when it was marvel
But they won't make all media available
and yet another reason to drop the subscription
>Disney
>Soros
I expect the content of Netflix to be fantastic.
They're already shedding third party content and becoming a glorified cable network.
Their endless Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars licensing cash will pay it off over the years.
who do you work for?
fuckin dropped
netflix and chill?
Legit confused by this;
>It's illegal for Distributors and Studios to own movie theaters
>It's okay for them to own (back in the day) rental outlets
That killed the rental business before the internet even came along
>It's legal for them to own TV and Digital Distribution
I seriously don't get at this point why they can't go back to owning theaters.
>Trump ends Net Neutrality
>Disney and Time Warner buy all the internet companies
>Have competing Pirate Bays that pirate the competitors back catalogues
We digital dystopia wars nao
Even better;
>You can't even run independent websites like Sup Forums or Lizard People Info Wars
>All news and social media is controlled by two or three companies
Can't wait.
>On facebook messenger
>Call your friend a nigger
>Internet cuts out
>Your entire Amazon and Steam catalogues or deleted
>All your work on google drive is deleted
>You have to attend a diversity course to get your internet turned back on
It's like the 90's
>Blockbuster and Hollywood Video become 99.9% of rental outlets
>No more horror, porn or independent movies
>Just 4,000 copies of the latest Pauley Shore or Julia Roberts movie
Excellent.
>tfw if I dig deep enough, I'll probably find out I'm owned by Disney or Time Warner or Comcast or GE
Time Warner comes with a lot of shit like HBO and DC
Netflix is just Netflix
>GE owns all of that
>on top of owning ALL the shit they already own
Anybody scared about Disney owning a whole lot of the pie needs to go and do some google searching on just how powerful GE actually is at this point.
Dear fucking Christ that's terrifying.
We are getting close to being back to robber-baron days of (((free enterprise))). For fuck's sake.
Disney could just build their own streaming service.
I'm sure they still retain the streaming rights to enough of their properties that would make it attractive enough for people to buy into.
I think its more about having an established user base. Anything they start is going to have to build subscribers from the ground up. An existing property is more valuable than a new one, and I think Disney, the company eternally famous for ripping off material from other sources and re branding it as as their own, knows that.
>It's illegal for Distributors and Studios to own movie theaters
Is that really true? Never heard of it.
Either way, Disney already owns the El Capitan theater in LA
I read a while back Apple was considering buying Time Warner
Vertical monopolies aren't usually encouraged.
why would anyone use the n word in the year 2016?
wtf i love CNN now
Disney is hands down the greatest threat to entertainment now.
>Disney is buying Netflix
But this means starwars and marvel would be on netflix. Im in.
>We are getting close to being back to robber-baron days of (((free enterprise)))
Yeah, because I'm sure you've studied lots of economic history, right?
But yes, GE is monstrous. It's not alone, though.
Really, you don't think AT&T buying Time warner (DC, HBO, etc) is a bigger threat.
An ISP having control over all that crap seems a little more dangerous to me.
Trump hated the idea of AT&T buying Time Warner. If he actually breaks up the big cooperation, he'll be following Teddy Roosevelt
...excellent reference.
Not really. Disney has a reputation of unparalleled excellence in profitable creative bankruptcy.
As does AT&T.
Bell Canada
tooshay
This chart is inaccurate. GE doesn't own Comcast. All of GE's former media holdings are now fully owned by Comcast.
>Thread: disney is buying netflix
>Article title: "Is Netflix Disney's next big buy...?"
Why does everybody in the world seem so hell-bent on exaggerating everything to get attention. Why can't you just post an accurate thread title
Fuck. Time to switch to FilmStruck or Hulu.
Hulu is a joint ownership between Disney, Fox and NBC.
so , it has begun
Whatever happened to the United States' anti-monopoly laws?
Amazon owns the other half of all movies & TV so as long as Disney doesn't buy Amazon it's not a monopoly
