Why are there so few actresses with jet black hair, Sup Forums? Is it a camera thing (brunettes maybe look better on film because of contrast etc?) or something else?

I dunno if this is the reason but it is true that it's more difficult for videos cameras to pick up really dark hair or clothes esp. If the rest of the scene is bright.

You might as well ask why in Hollywood there are so many actors with dark hair, light eyes and tall face structure. Cause it's the ideal. If you look like that you get lead roles, if you don't look like that you get supporting roles and weird movie leads.

Also it probably is a pain in the ass to deal with when timing the color and shit. I remember a BrBa commentary where the actor who played Ted complained about his hair looking nothing like it does on onscreen.
