I read the books, though this takes place after them right? I like Idris but this is a total miscast. Roland was not black, he was Clint Eastwood.
They could have gotten Scott Eastwood to play him if he wasn't such a douchebag.

First three books were entertaining. Then the series nosedived and destroyed everything good about the story

Idris is a fine actor, and Matthew Mcconaughey was born to play Flagg, so I'm looking forward to it.

I read every one of the books, there's no possible way this won't be absolute trash.

They majorly fucked with character relations and I guess are straight up rewriting every conversation with Detta/Odetta(a major black character who constantly calls Roland "honkey"), just because they wanted to cast a black man for muh diversity.

He's not right for the role in any way shape or form.

I read the first book and I thought it was alright. I'd definitely go and check out the movie if it wasn't because they casted a black man as the main character.

If you have any sense of pattern recognition, you shouldn't be.

Hollywood is stagnating. Sequel to this, remake of that, adaptation of some other thing. No original ideas for a whole standalone movie anymore, all ideas are just applied to existing material, modifying it into the typical uninspired "hollywood adaptations" we keep seeing today.

I seriously have to debate the value of purshasing a movie ticket these days. Almost nothing is worth seeing in the theatre, let alone paying around $20 just for the opportunity to do so.
