Why did Americans own slaves?

That seems counter to their values of liberty, equality and justice for all.

Because it'd been an important part of the economic system of the colonies for more than 150 years at that point and the founders thought it could be safely phased out instead of outright eliminated (which could have caused economic problems)

Obviously things didn't work out that way but hindsight is 20/20

Way back before you were even a twinkle in your parents' eyes, there were many factories which needed workers, and transportation infrastructure to build, and new buildings to raise. In short, a country to build.
About the same time, a bunch of people got kicked out of their countries for not being royal boot lickers. So they came here. Lots, and lots of them.
Bam.
Instant opportunity.
Eventually, those slaves became skilled, formed trade unions, and collectively bargained their way to better working conditions and higher wages.
Evolution.
You should try it some time.

>being a slave was good
am always impressed by the levels of delusion americans regularly achieve
mad

>ex-slave
>literally benefiting from the suffering of her ancestors by living freely in a country they slaved away to develop

absolutely disgusting

The only thing Americans value is money.

Back in the 1800s, blacks are not considered as humans.

Blacks aren't actually human so it never occured to us they should have rights.

some like calories

Many places had slaves

Even Finns and Estonians taken to/made slaves but you we don't talk about it

And why should we

And why does her shirt say that?

Would buy/10

Most powerful societies enslaved other economically backwards peoples. Also consider that back in the day Blacks were UNIRONICALLY not regarded as humans. Browse Sup Forums and you'll be convinced that all people other than Whites and East Asians are non human creatures. Notice this attitude:

Humans had those.

cuz niggers are not in the area where the scale of US constitution reaches. They are basically sub-human beings, inferior to other ethnic groups.

white people are lazy

Blacks weren't considered people. Philosophy has never been applied to livestock.

Blacks werent americans but foreigners and property of individuals so it was Americans buying foreigners as property.

/thread

Slavery was commonplace everywhere untill very recently, even native americans had slaves and and if any of their slaves had childeren they became slaves too

So does capitalism

Capitalism tries for a delicate balance: It attempts to work things out so that everyone gets just enough stuff to keep them from getting violent and trying to take other people’s stuff.

Underrated

Why blacks werent americans?
Because rich plantation owners brought them to US

don't compare me to those crazy fucks
I just resent first worlders that complain

>and East Asians are non human creatures
They're viewed as soulless automata closer to ants than humans.

Pol is right again.

Redditor posts again.

Would enslave/10

Redditor posts again

>slaves
>factory workers
no

Niggers were only counted as 3/5 human

Because we had freedom to own slaves.

Most countries that weren't build yesterday had slaves at some point.
