It's speculated that Anglos were the result of interbreeding with the natives. But it's most speculative. Genetic research mostly focuses on The UK, samples from other groups outside The UK are not very representative.
There is no celtic distinction, everyone on the British Isles is genetically very similar with distinct differences due to geographic isolation. A celtic identity is mostly cultural.

Yes, cultural assimilation is incredibly prominent in todays world, and more possible than ever. To believe that culture is something were born with is comforting, as it can let one think that your way of life can never disappear, but it's not true. Regardless of how genetically similar your great grandparent were, you aren't living the same way that they did. Every year the your culture dies a small death, as it's changed by interacting with new cultures, whether large and imperialistic or small and foreign. No ideas survive the test of time except through human effort.
