Is the Classical era the most forgotten post Middle Age era? Pretty much only Haydn, Mozart and early GOTT are the only ones who are still performed regularly
Pretty much Bach, Vivaldi and Handel are the only Baroque composers performed regularly
This doesn't take away form their contributions, but I feel like the classical period has become a bit irrelevant. Like yeah we still do stuff from it, and use techinques from it, but the Romantic era never really died. That was about emotion and the music was about 1 upping each other and not so much about writing the music for a specific reason anymore you know. Skilled performances become a bit more of a focus and that is something that carried over to the Modern era and today. You can't go on YouTube without seeing someone doing something trying to impress and establish themselves as skilled. Plus most people think music from the classical era is boring while music from the Romantic era is still in movies (well movies that use orchestras) and their influence is more immediate with contemporary audiences.
Just my theory, I'm sure i'll be molested for saying that but that's just something I've noticed talking to people and hearing what most people want to hear.
>forgetting Schubert and Beethoven
CPE Bach is played sometimes too isn't he?
>"Schubert is Classical"
>doesn't know who GOTT is
>Schubert isn't Classical
