I was born in Texas, grew up in Massachusetts, and want to move to back to Texas when I graduate college a year from now.
A friend of mine and I are thinking about working out living arrangements in Austin.
Is the economy as good as rumors say? I know what stats say about the Mexican population of Austin, but does anyone have firsthand information on what the political and social atmosphere of the city is?
Economy is fantastic, but it's being steadily invaded by low class mexicans and niggers. usually just for the music festivals, but each time there is a bit more that stay.
it's very liberal compared to the rest of texas, and still feels like a college town in a lot of way.
it's also sprawling all over the place

Rent is not cheap. Get out of town for SXSW unless you're playing shows. People forget it's the capital of a red state. So culturally very liberal but legally pretty center if not conservative. More Alex Jones types and libertarians than you'd expect. Downtown, west, and north are completely taken over by Califags. Still nice people but fake as shit. Slowly taking over East side which is gentrification central. Lots of outdoors stuff to do. Lots of amazing breweries if you like that. Most segregated large city in Texas. Largest city with a decreasing black population. Used to be most Hispanics were Texas born and mostly conservative. That's changing thanks to ass holes like my aunt. Fun town if you can deal with heat, traffic, and allergies.

All of this is true. Also Alex Jones literally lives here, so that's why there are so many Alex Jones types around.

I've met him a couple times. Cool guy. Definitely puts on a persona for his show.

It's a shithole, don't come here. I'm bailing for New Braunfels or San Marcos as soon as my lease is up.
Also BY FAR the best employment opportunity for anyone frequenting this board is with the police department. Adjusting for cost of living we're like top 5 highest paid cops in the US. Benefits are insane too, plus law enforcement is basically the most redpilled job there is. And we're 300 officers short, so if you're 21 and not a felon you're hired.
Alexander Walker
I would go with New Braunfels. San Marcos is only amazing during the summer when the kids are gone.

recent Austin transplant. way more faggots than I was hoping for. living costs always increasing. good job selections tho. wish I was in a redder part of texas.

Austin and Houston are the blueish zones of Texas. Houston being a bit worse for being Mexico 2.0
