John Oliver

Without memeing, what does everyone think of current year man?

what's scary about the times?

He seems like the sort of bloke that'd actually be a nice guy in person, the sort who'd invite you to his barbeque even though you don't know him all that well just so you don't feel left out. I don't find him funny though.

He and his writers are pretty amusing

Nice advertisement, HBO.
Someone reminded me today that he was on Community, and he was pretty funny on that.

I just fucking hate the way he handles jokes.

>John Oliver says something good
WOW SUCH HARD HITTING JOURNALISM, WHY CANT THE NEWS DO PIECES LIKE THIS
>John Oliver says something retarded
DUDE ITS A COMEDY SHOW LMAO STOP TAKING IT SO SERIOUSLY

I like when he talks about lesser known topics like payday loans or those special districts

His more political stuff is definitely too preachy and circlejerky, and I say that despite agreeing with most of his politics

I think he is reasonably funny but not hilarious and that he generally makes a hell of a lot more sense than Sup Forums.

Trumplets hate him for some reason

I disagree with a lot of the things he says, but he can be really funny sometimes.

My mother loves John Oliver and she voted for Trump and hasn't shut up about it since the election. I'm also pretty sure his wife is a conservative so really Sup Forums should like him more.

that's consistent though, the first is about how he, a comedian, still gets to do reports on things that are more relevant than what the average news network does. the second is about he, a comedian, isn't responsible for serious journalism. there's no contradiction, in fact, if the second point wasn't there, the first wouldn't make sense.

I think he too often sacrifices the comedy to explain his political views on his current show. But I like;
>when he talks about lesser known topics
This is usually quite interesting, he reports on some things that nobody else in the media even tries to cover.

He was also the only Daily Show host I've ever found funny.

It's basically what The Daily Show would have been if he had become the host, but it's better because they only have to do it once a week and it's on HBO. It's pretty good show though regardless of how you meme about it

why do you call him the current year man?

There's a lot of nu-males on the streets vandalizing property and assaulting people.

IT'S

Its scary for closeted radical leftists like Oliver's audience who think Trump will turn America into something reminiscent of Pink Floyd's The Wall despite the fact that he's more left leaning then almost every other Republican outside neocons who are closet Democrats.

Haha, look how he's hiding behind his desk! You're not supposed to be scared lol

No he's scared because mean fascists are out to get him. Just like the Hello Cost.

his podcast was good.
his show is too proselytistic and his audience is annoying

He can have some legitimately funny sketches, but the man himself isn't funny, his writers are. If he would back off of Trump for once and tackle other topics, maybe I'd give him a chance, but he's not good enough to warrant my time or attention. He doesn't even live in the US, so why is he fit to talk shit about this country?
