When Glee first started, the producers were terrified they wouldn't have enough money to rent it all.
In short order, entire music catalogs were being lobbed at them at steep discounts, or free. Turns out it causes a massive bump in online sales in iTunes or something.
Probably hasn't been much of a problem for TV since then.
