What are your favorite movies of 2016? Let's get a proper discussion thread going for once.

My top 3 are probably:

>Embrace of the Serpent
>Aferim
>Arrival

such kino

Captain America: Civil War
Moonlight
Arrival

1# is manchester by the sea

Is it actually good? I was extremely hyped for it when I saw the first trailer that was released since it was essentially a visual jigsaw puzzle, but I hear it's quite the letdown.

10 cloverfield lane
train to busan
nocturnal animals

It's nothing special

>capeshit
>zombieshit

explain urselves

I don't like zombie movies, but Train to Busan was really good. Well written, well directed, and well acted.

Tickled
10 Cloverfield Lane
Kubo and the Two Strings
Arrival
Nocturnal Animals
Captain America: Civil War (yeah, I like me some good capeshit, and this one somehow felt more rewatchable than Doctor Strange)
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (just for how amazingly NOTHING in it worked right despite it being pretty well-made on the technical level)

Missed the opportunity to see Hardcore Henry (in my country it was released in theatres in 2016, so it kinda counts), probably would've enjoyed it on the big screen.
Also forgot that Deadpool came out in 2016. It was pretty good too.

In this corner of the world
Your name
The nice guys

Kino:
The VVitch
10 Cloverfield Lane
Captain America: Civil War
The Nice Guys
Captain Fantastic
Hacksaw Ridge
Arrival
Nocturnal Animals
Manchester by the Sea

Meh:
Kubo and the Two Strings (if only for the visuals)
Snowden

Everything else that got wide release in the US was bad.

Pic related was my most favourite.
Nocturnal animals and wailing were good.

>Captain America: Civil War

High rise
Swiss army man
Neon demon

>Aferim
OP is a gypsy.
Arrival was shit, Vlad.

...

Arrival
The VVitch
Nocturnal Animals

The Lobster
Manchester by the Sea
Hell or High Water

best movies of the year

Knight of Cups
Neon Demon

Nocturnal Animals
The Nice Guys
Rogue One/Hell or High Water

Meh. The first half seems to set up a cool premise and interesting exploration of autism. Then the second half goes full retard with some super spy bullshit and ass-pull twists that serve nothing. Worth a watch to judge for yourself at least.

Silence
Colonia
Manchester by the Sea

>Silence
>Colonia
>Manchester by the Sea
One of these is not like the other(s)

1.Arrival
2.Nocturnal Animals
3.Batman v Superman
4.Edge of 17
5.Manchester by the Sea
6.Moonlight
7.The Witch
8.The Neon Demon

>Colonia

viper.png

but hey, i'm sure her pit hair was perfect to the centimeter, eh?

It's pure cinema commit to suicide

get the fuck out of my thread, you philistine, and take your shitty opinions with you

It's boring, nothing interesting happens and the little twist at the end is shit as well.
It was made cost effectively so the studio could fund bigger projects and made back it's budget three times over.

Manchester by the Sea
Creepy
O.J.: Made in America

The Lobster is 2015 and I dont care if it was released one year later in your city

Kubo
Hacksaw Ridge
Central Intelligence
Snowden
Doctor Strange
Rogue One
Batman v Superman unironically

Hacksaw Ridge
Hell or High Water
The Witch

>Hunt for the Wilderpeople
>Embrace of the Serpent
>The Wailing
>Arrival
>Manchester by the Sea
>Handmaiden
>The Witch
>Shin Godzilla
>Toni Erdmann
>Paterson

what does it feel like to be an infantile normie?

Nice Guys
The Witch
I Am Not A Serial Killer
Kubo (it's artstyle/animation was beautiful)
Handmaiden

I have I Am Not a Serial Killer downloaded, but wasn't sure if it was worth an immediate watch. The trailer made it look charmingly moody, but the plot also seemed a bit contrived (An edgy teenager with "dark" impulses has to catch a serial killer? Didn't Dexter already cover this?).

If you don't mind, I'd be interested in hearing your take on the film, including its strengths and weaknesses. No spoilers would be great, of course.

The narrative's focus is mainly on a teenagre whom was diagnosed as a socipath. He has an interest in serial killers and often reads about the topic, not to mention that he also works with his mother in her morg. Main part of the film deals with him following a serial killer in his town to find what his motives are, while also showing his internal struggle as a person. Records and Loyd did a damn good job and mc's growth as a person was done well. Directing was also good and the film is packed with some moments full of tension.

Not something I'd deem as great, but not garbage either. It's a solid film and a nice ride, followed by comfy snowy visuals. Graba cup of coffee/tea, a blanket and enjoy. The main character does appear somewhat edgy at the beginning, but as I've already mentioned, he does develop nicely and Loyd made for a solid antagonist.

Don't ever talk to me again in that tone, pleb

1. Manchester by the Sea
2. Under the Shadow
3. The Wailing
4. Arrival
5. Everybody Wants Some!! / Swiss Army Man / Captain Fantastic (can't really separate these three but they were all solid)

Biggest letdowns: Midnight Special, Hell or High Water, The Nice Guys, The Neon Demon

RICKY BAKER
OOOOOH

Shit taste. Hell or High Water, Train To Busan, The Nice Guys, Nocturnal Animals are all kino

Manchester By The Sea
The Handmaiden
Hell or High Water

I have only seen about 10 of them. But i'd say:

>Hell or High Water
>Manchester-by-the-sea
>Zootopia

That's some eccentric taste you have there. I wouldn't necessarily even say bad, just odd

How was Train to Busan "kino"? It was fairly entertaining but super kitschy and rough around the edges

Manchester by the sea
Silence
Moonlight

How is Garfield in Silence

Saw Hacksaw Ridge, he was so-so, film is good despite of Andrew, not because imho.

Arrival
Hell or high water
10 cloverfield lane
Blood father
The handmaiden
Hunt for the wilder people
Silence

RICKY BAKER AH AH

Is that Emily Blunt? She looks so cute.

You face blind? Blunt can only wish she looked like that

The Witch
Arrival
The Neon Demon
Green Room
Train To Busan
The Frontier
Blair Witch (fuck you i liked it)
Don't Breath

lol no
she looks nothing like blunt but yes she's very pretty
no idea who she is though

Manchester by the Sea
Hell or High Water
The Neon Demon

>Blair Witch (fuck you i liked it)
How possibly? It's literally a derivative cashgrab replay with no imagination

You guys don't see any similarities? Now that I googled Blunt and compared pics side by side, it's obviously not the same person, but at initial glance, knowing this is a celebrity-obsessed board, I thought the lower jaw in particular was reminiscent of Blunt's; the eyes as well.

I see similarities, yes, but this girl's face is more feminine and younger, so better.

VVVitch
Neon Demon
Handmaiden
The Lobster
Green Room
Swiss Army Man was good but not as good the second time around

I can't remember what all I saw honestly. There's also still quite a few I have downloaded but haven't watched yet.

For sure. She's cute as hell.

>tfw the only google results are for pinterest

The police station scene fucked me up

This. Underrated and refreshing action film.

Out of about 80 flicks

Out of 80 or so flicks

>kino
>underrated
>refreshing
lmao

watch more Jaume Collet-Serra, he is a very talented and creative director. All of his films are good, but the ones with Liam Neeson are great.

The VVitch, hands down.
Nightcrawler was also great (or was that 2015?).

Yeah, Non-Stop was great. Neeson's best post-Taken flick

>in order to prevent another 9/11, we have to crash this plane WITH NO SURVIVORS

>2016

Non-Stop was fantastic use of such a small space. the way he worked around the limitations of it (he essentially made a film in a fucking hallway) was so good, the film never felt restricted and that's mark of a genius to me.

Can't wait to see his next work With Leeson, The Commuter.

Check out Unknown too, real good stufff.
