What if Kubrick, Togashi or Urasawa directed Harry Potter?

Post a small paragraph explaining what would be the obvious changes for each of these three if they directed the saga

How about fuck you nigger

POST IT

It would be the sharpest franchise.

edgy

That would be cool.

What is this? Homework?

Curiosity. I think HP is too childish.

I wanted to fuck Luna so bad when I was younger.

Read fanfiction, and jerked off fantasizing about screwing her brains out in the room of requirement.

Even found a softcore pornstar lookalike

Luna only just got some half decent rule 34 like last year though

>Kubrick
Malcolm McDowell as Snape, the violence is not PG anymore, Voldemort's face on the back of Quirrell's head is the most disgusting thing ever.
It's also the best looking thing ever (unless Kubrick goes full on experimenting with CGI, then it's probably his worst movie).
I don't know. The director can make the movie look a certain way, but it's all in the script and editing.
If Kubrick would have full creative control, then it wouldn't be a Harry Potter movie, but something that shared the names and plot elements with the novels, with totaly different pov, warped characters and motives and even story.
Just like what he did with Clockwork Orange, 2001, Eyes Wide Shut or The Shining - all are movies based on novels, and arguably all of those movies are better than their book counterparts.
Now fight me faggots.

>Even found a softcore pornstar lookalike
We all did

Kids films are childish. Funny that

Not even the presence of legendary directors like that could save the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects?all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>But at least the books are ggood though!
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King

The series couldn't have been made better. It has god tier progression and atmosphere.

Bad thread.

It's the first time I'm reading that and
>Spielberg
He was already far past his prime by then. What's the last Spielberg's movie that worked really well and made an impact? Jurrasic Park?!
Don't start me on Saving Private Ryan which is dull as shit after the first couple of minutes.

>no "No!"
0/10, thats the best part

why the fuck shoukd we do exactly what we want?speculate exactly as you desire? imagine our own fantasy world the way you want it to be? i agree theharry potter series is shitbut has the potential to be amazing, if only harry potter was a likeable protagonist with any redeeming qualities, if only there was some kind of relationship between the students and teachers, if only the werewolf character wasnt called wolfy mcwolfenson, if only 90% of the magic couldnt be replaced with a gun, flashlight or lockpick, butwhydo you insist on demandingthe parameters inwhich we imagine these things you piece of shit

also i am sorry about my dreadful typing and inability to proof read my posts, i am drunk.

Stop taking bait rowling wanted gilliam and the studio vetoed it

The script would be 3 pages long.

>Gilliam
That would be great if the studio stayed away from the production.

agreed

>Clockwork Orange
Book is better
>2001
Book came after the movie

The studio did stay away from production each film is very much the work of the directors. Heyman said that's how you get the best product by giving them full creative control. The studio vetoed Gilliam though. No matter the series started off well and just got stronger imo.
