this is a man who has not yet seen Highlander.

They cost much money and the industry is extremely risk-averse the last few years.
Hollywood isn't done milking the Capeshit cash-cow and, of course, they wouldn't abandon it to film anything more ambitious

>Highlander
>ancient

I've asked myself this a few times. I think it is just because audiences are so fucking illiterate that Athens, Sparta, Thebes, Macedon, Persia even Rome really means fucking nothing to them. You could make some painstaking 2 billion dollar budget film about the fall of Carthage but peoples eyes will glaze over reading a synopsis about "Scipio, Punics, Rome" etc. Capeshit makes studios money and that at the end of the day is why they make movies

Can you imagine the America of the 50's going to see superhero flicks in droves? The medium would've never gone anywhere. People say that all of the stories have been told. BULLSHIT.

you know what I want?
A Bible movie universe

Well, Ben-Hurr was remade.
Maybe they'll put Gerar Butler as Moses next.

There's been tons of movies about ancient greece in particular. also rome.

see above

Ben-Hur
Spartacus
Gladiator
300
Funny Side of History
Samson and Delilah
I, Claudius (show, but still)
Caligula

>a child makes a foolish statement

he was not Spartacus

>caligula
>no helen mirren nude scene
i know we already have some but come on i needed moar

also Life of Brian because i litrerally cannot think of any other ancient movie right now

If we are counting Rome as ancient then no, Rome is one of the most depicted times in film ever and for many reasons.

I don't think I've seen plenty of movies about ancient greece though, besides Agora, Troy, and 300

If by "ancient" you mean "antiquity" then it's because we know so little about those times that it would be difficult to craft a compelling narrative out of any available information. I've always wanted a somewhat historically accurate movie set in Babylon but what would it even be about?

By ancient he means the ancient period you autist.
"antiquity" is something only try hards ever utter.

This is false. We have enough evidence to make countless movies about Antiquity. Especially concerning Greece and Roman Republic/Empire.

I agree something about Babylon would be very difficult but that's centuries older than the more popular topics I just mentioned and there are a lot less primary sources.

Anitquity is a common term used by historians you autist.

I tried to watch Caligula but 30 minutes in I needed Jesus

...

Does this count?

It requires research, and a lot of work. Shitting out another remake is much easier and cheaper.

ancient is more common, yet you sperged out

It obviously fucking doesn't

Because Gladiator is as far as Hollywood will go.

Anything "B.C." and the 99% of the people will think its a fantasy setting.

>American "education".
