Does this open the door to The Next Generation reboot storyline?
If so, how would you want it handled? Who would you cast as JLP, Ryker, Worf, Data etc? Would you prefer it to be a multi season tv series?

Unlike most sci-fi films. Star Trek is begging for a big name director with a big name cast to get it right.
I think the reboot is pretty good, at least superficially. Could be more Star Trek in terms of it's stories.

The premise of exploring the unknown stands on it's own. Why would I even want anyone else as Data? They couldn't do it.

The problem is Star Trek never got cinematic justice for such great material. It deserves more than just being an extended tv special. J.J. was pure hype and the new guy is literally handpicked by producers. There has to be a director who cares for it as much as fans since it deserves the treatment.
I hope they fucking NEVER reboot TNG. They couldn't even make a decent movie with the original cast of TNG. It's a good TV series and needs to stay the classic that it is. Not everything needs to be rebooted.

Well TNG in itself, was somewhat of a reboot, as it redefined what Star Trek was.
If they could redefine JJTrek in the same way, maybe they could get it right eventually.
