THOR: RAGNAROK Information Round-Up

What's confirmed.

>Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is journeying across the Nine Realms, investigating who is trying to assemble the Infinity Stones, when he discovers that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has been masquerading as Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and has usurped the throne of Asgard.

>Hela (Cate Blanchett) is a powerful enchantress and queen of the undead, who has been locked away by Odin centuries before. Due to Loki's negligence, she escapes and destroys Mjolnir when Thor attempts to stop her. She then exiles him to the faraway planet Sakaar, filled with barbarians and outlaws from throughout the cosmos.

>Thor is captured by Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), a renegade Asgardian working for Sakaar's ruler, the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), locating warriors to fight in the Grandmaster's gladiatorial matches. The Grandmaster is one of the Elders of the Universe and is obsessed by his own pleasure.

>Thor ends up becoming a gladiator and discovers that the champion of the arena is the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), who hasn't reverted to his human form as Bruce Banner in months. Because of this, their personalities are merging, and the Hulk is becoming more intelligent.

Are we going to get Beta Ray Bill?

>Loki attempts to form an alliance with Hela, but she betrays him, forcing Loki to seek Thor for help. He helps Thor and Hulk escape from the arena, and the trio leaves to find Odin, who has been exiled to Earth by Loki and has been living as a vagrant.

>Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) helps Thor locate Odin, who instructs Thor to find the "ultimate weapon" in order to stop Hela.

>Thor, Loki and Hulk then depart in search of the weapon while being pursued by both the Valkyrie, who has been ordered to recaptured them by the Grandmaster, as well as by Hela's enforcer, Skurge (Karl Urban).

>Hela has the power to summon weapons from her own body, and her plan is to awaken two legendary monsters, Surtur and Fenrir, and unleash the Ragnarok upon the Nine Realms.

What's heavily rumored.

>Due to Mjolnir's destruction, Thor wields a pair of swords while on Sakaar, which he later replaces for the battle axe Jarnbjorn.

>Thor and Jane Foster have broken up. Thor greatly admires the Valkyries, Asgard's elite warriors, and encourages Valkyrie to embrace the ideals she abandoned. She eventually cuts ties with the Grandmaster and joins the battle against Hela's forces, as well as developing a relationship with Thor.

>Heimdall (Idris Elba) is killed by Hela to leave the Nine Realms vulnerable to the impending Ragnarok, and it's his death that forces Loki to seek Thor for help.

>The "ultimate weapon" is the Soul Stone, which allows Thor to call upon the fallen warriors of Valhalla and lead them to battle against Hela and her hordes of the undead. Heimdall is among the fallen warriors who return for one last battle before moving on to the afterlife.

>In the final battle, Thor and Loki battle Surtur while Hulk and Odin confront Fenrir. Skurge realizes Hela had been manipulating him all along and decides to help Thor, sacrificing himself by single-handely holding off the hordes of the undead until the monsters are defeated.

>Hela is vanquished and locked up once again by Odin, who reclaims the throne of Asgard and welcomes Valkyrie back into their kingdom.

>Loki ultimately betrays Thor and steals the Soul Stone, which he delivers to Thanos to be pardoned for his previous failures. Having finally learned the identity of the mastermind behind the conspiracy, Thor and Hulk return to Earth to reassemble the Avengers and prepare them for battle.

MUH

I'm liking this color palette.

At least one good Thor movie would be nice.

Didn't Odin die, though?

>Hulk in a Thor movie

dropped.

like literally, how could Banner even be on that planet?

Why are Thor and Hulk always paired together? Are they buddies in the comics?

>It's a 'Loki betrays everyone multiple times and still gets given another chance' episode

Hulk was kidnapped by gods.

The reason is because they are the only two strong enough to fight each and their mutual enemies.

this is so lazy fuck marvel

forgot to add, that this would be kino if Loki began a Vegeta/Ted Cruz like redemption ark

That's like, rule 1 of Norse mythology. Loki constantly betrays people and fucks stuff up, and they still keep him around(until he kills Baldr)

Yeah it's pretty retarded.

>damn Loki, you've betrayed me how many times at this point? Like 20? Yeah you even tried to blow up the planet where my love lives, pretty fucked up dude. Why do i keep letting you out of prison again? Well anyways i'm going on a new adventure, there will probably be lots of cool stuff we'll find surely capable of mass destruction if it got into the wrong hands. Wanna come with me?

Agreed.

>Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), who hasn't reverted to his human form as Bruce Banner in months. Because of this, their personalities are merging, and the Hulk is becoming more intelligent
i dont know about this

There is a story line this movie is loosely based off of where Hulk is used by Loki to rage Ragnarok on Asgard while Odin sleeps and he nearly succeeds.

The only reason Thor exists in the Marvel universe was because Hulk needed a credible opponent and nothing short of a literal god had the same power level as him.

This film is a clusterfuck.

Also, I'm getting tired of romantic side characters getting boxed out and ejected from the canon just because nobody wants to sign Natalie Portman on for another film.

What is Planet Hulk

A better story that should have been given due diligence and it's a shame Marvel cheaper out on licensing rights.

but are going to see caveman hulk from here on out?

That's literally in the character's canon. The more time he spends as the Hulk the more control he has.

Hulk vs Wolverine gives a really good look into it.

Again, didn't Odin die?

Freedom checked

Is that really what happened? They just don't like her anymore?

...

...

...

...

Well the reason Pepper Potts isn't in any of the films anymore is because Gwyneth Paltrow tried to play hardball with her contract and lost.

Not saying Portman did that, but I'm sure that Disney got the idea to trim the fat from that incident.

>In Soviet Russia...

This. Technically he should have been executed after the avengers

>thor with short har
REEEEEEEEEEEEE

Should have just given him a better wig, or maybe his helmet.

>arena hulk from WW hulk
>intelligent badass hulk popular since Mr. Fixit
>Huge fucking CGI classic idiot hulk
>It'll work!

Yennifer?

so instead of planet hulk we get this load of shit? thanks MCU. fucking dipshits

>get me Eva Green!
>sir, she's demanding nudity even in a Marvel film
>then get me Cate Blanchett and have her made up to look like Eva Green!

And the tesseract that's on asgard? Loki conveniently forget to grab that one on his way out to?

Why don't you Google that retarded question fuckhead

SIF IS GETTING KEKED AGAIN???
DROPPED

Sounds like it could be cool honestly. It's definitely gonna be the best Thor movie so far, not that that's saying much.

Mr. Fixit

Will we finally see Odin do something powerful and not stand around or job all day?

It's exactly what happened with Portman. Disney does not fuck around, RDJ had to come to the table with all the execs to get his co stars raises, and even then Disney literally considered just wiping the slate clean and firing all of them

It has nothing to do with licensing rights you retard, they own the entire company. It has everything to do with the fact that they have zero confidence in another standalone Hulk film at the box office. They will never put him in his own film again because it's too risky.

This is a Reddit comment, big time Reddit comment.

God fucking damnit, why does everyone always leave the thread right when I come in.

You smell.

It likely has more to do with the negative reception Portman received after Dark World, or at least is a combination of the two. What's the point of paying for a big name actress like Portman is she's not actually drawing the crowds?

Marvel is aggressive at reacting to criticism. Everything that people complain about in a Marvel film is dealt with for the next flick.
>Hulk undersold? No more Norton, no more solo Hulk
>People didn't much like Captain America? Change the style entirely for the sequel.
>People bash Ultron? Joss, get the fuck out of here.

Wow, so they're pillaging the amazing Planet Hulk/World War Hulk storyline for a shitty Thor movie? Right as R rate capeshit is taking off?

Genius, Marvel. Pure Genius.

Its a shame Ruffalo is never getting that standalone Hulk movie. I guess Feige just doesn't see Hulk able to stand on his own.

Its just like Fox and their stupid thing of making Xavier and Magneto buddy buddy

are they really not gonna give us a real planet hulk movie? I don't even know what to say.

Tell me about Thor, why did he cut his hair?

If you actually enjoy any of this capeshit please kill yourself. Comic books are some of the faggiest media ever created and is solely the purview of man children and fat autistics.

>Taika Waititi
Please let this be good. I don't wanna see him chewed up and spat out by Hollywood. I don't wanna see him hurt ;_;

It might also have something to do with Hemsworth and Portman having all the one screen chemistry of soggy toast.

That was never a factor, good acting and great chemistry has never been a high priority for these movies.

The fact is that Portman is too expensive for them. I guarantee she took him less that a million for the first Thor movie with the hopes of it taking off and leading to something bigger in the sequels, but when she asked for 3-5m for Thor 3 Disney told her to take a fucking hike

*Took home

>t butthurt dc fan

>It likely has more to do with the negative reception Portman received after Dark World, or at least is a combination of the two.

Dark World didn't suck because of Natalie Portman.

>faggiest
>comes into a thread to shit post and says "faggiest"
please leave or contribute
I hope this movie does well. I hate/love the casting on some parts. valkyiran actress sucks

No. You'll get Thor fighting Hulk instead of Beta.

I will never EVER understand this mentality. You hate capeshit? HURR DURR U MUST BE A DC FAN

It's like your neanderthal brain can't even comprehend the fact that some people actually think that all capeshit is stupid and accelerating the infantilization of the adult population.

Whedon left Marvel because he got burnt out working on Ultron, they didn't kick him out. Read any interview he's done since, he's said that they were totally on board with him doing infinity war, but he didn't want to stay.

It's the same reason they're getting the Russo brothers to do them now, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This is literally the only reason i give two shits about this film. Fuck Marvel, but Taika has some serious Kinos in his Filmography.
