italy didn't really invent much 2bqh a quick dip into the inventors' biographies usually reveals that they borrowed/stole inventions from elsewhere and combined it with technologies borrowed/stolen from somewhere else in Europe to make a more useful or reliable version of that invention.
It's not really a bad thing, but most Italian inventions aren't exactly original or unique to their country's origin. The same can be said of most American, French, and Japanese inventions though.
Not bad for having a smaller population than most major cities, if I may say so myself.

Yes, among other things like aqueducts, civilization in Mexico got started from scratch, it's one thing to rhyme, like cavemen may have done, but poetry as a formal literary medium is quite another and that was independently developed in Mexico.
Camden Hernandez
But we already had poetry during Nezahualcoyotl times

I'm talking independent development, you got poetry from Middle Eastern peoples, the Mesoamericans didn't have those advantages. Mexico doesn't join the Western world until 1521

Dante ripped of abu ala el maary while the romans were influenced by greeks.

"The oldest surviving epic poem, the Epic of Gilgamesh, comes from the 3rd millennium BCE in Sumer (in Mesopotamia, now Iraq), and was written in cuneiform script on clay tablets and, later, on papyrus.[10]"
No, the Romans did not invent neither poetry nor writing, those originated in the Middle East. Nezahualcoyotl was the peak poet of his civilization, Mesoamericans had to come up with everything on their own, they count as inventors.

>while the romans were influenced by greeks Roman poetry mostly comes from an oral background -which surely derived from Greek themes, but got mostly unrecognizable (in terms of style and technique) by the times it was a written art
>Dante ripped of abu ala el maary what You mean the fact the concept of rhyme scheme got influenced by arabs?
looks like you're right

see Again, I'm talking independent development going from Paleo-Indian to or pictured, I will concede it is arguable the nomads who first settled Mexico may have had some prior tradition, this could be cave paintings associated with the Clovis culture, but Mesoamericans did invent both the medium and the aesthetic conventions of a fully independent pictoric tradition. Anyway, they did invent murals, painted lintels/bas relief, textile designs, book illustrations, ceramic paintings, etc.

Mesoamerica peaked at the bronze culture stage, they were still some way from what would have been their renaissance equivalent. Mexicans did catch up fast enough after they were introduced to European art.

I do like those very much, I'll admit, the Mexican murals do have their own unique aesthetic tho which I kinda also like, particularly Teotihuacan which would be stuff likr and pictured.

Amerindian civilizations have this peculiar art style where there are too many things in your face, the weird things is that they all shared it, the Andeans, mesoamericans and even the cultures in the Missisipi (Cahokia)
Josiah Russell
>No nigga, we got poetry from Roman
Oh my God I could sand this from a Murican, but an Italian?
There are a huge number of Greek poets from the fucking archaic period (8-7th century bc(, whent he Romans were sheperds roaming about building only wooden huts, and I'm not talking about epic poets like Hesiod an Homer but also lyric ones like Saffo or Alcaeus, if we're talking about Epic poetry then it has it roots in the middle east, while Lyric poets are from 7th century bc Greece
Landon Gray
Hey you forget Pic related ;)

Mesoamericans I know did have some influence in Aridoamerica so that some similarities may have been cultural transmission which we know did exist eg maize and associated nixtamalization. Contact with South America is more iffy, some agricultural products did make it (eg beans from Peru, pineaple from Brazil, peanuts from Argentina) and the leading theory is bronze made it's way to Mesoamerica from South America, there seems to be little evidence from it going the other way tho, the Inca did not have writing despite it being more than a millenium old in Mexico.
Mexican art shows a very clear line of evolution going through different succesive cultures, in South America this process is more disjointed as in going from Moche to Inca. I personally see the Inca art style as being very distinct from Mesoamerican, nevermind key common elements (eg Quetzalcoatl) are missing but I will admit both styles do seem visually cluttered, recargado we would say in Spanish.
