tyranny of madrid

Nothing much really. Unless spain does some drastic methods, Catalonia basically set itself for independence on the long run.

socialism
the faggot millenial type

Puigdemont

The US didn't recognize and Asspain's tyranny against democracy.

The complete lack of any kind of plan.

That's why they gave us the perfect excuse to dump all gypsies and Muslims in Catalonia. When they get independence, they will be their problem.

Will independence ever truly happen?

No, they have shown that their independence movement isn't serious. Had they done like the Slovenians and took control of all strategic points right after the declaration of independence, maybe then it would have been a believable movement. But all they've done is whine and get laughed at.

I got the impression they were honestly surprised when no country in the UE rushed to recognize them.

I honestly would believe that. I think that they reached the point where they were deluded by their own lies

Catalan separatists live in a fantasy world. I mean, they were laughed at by Belgian politicians. Of all people. Some of them are as deluded as Trumpets and believe that Puigdemont is playing 5D chess with the EU and the Spanish government every time he screws up.

can't he gain the power?

The king's job is representation, not governance.

No army or foreign support.

The "imperial" handshake vs the Royal S A L U T E

So as an American I don't get it seems like most of the brunt of supporting the Spanish government at least financially falls on Catalonia why should Catalonia have to remain a part of Spain if they do most of the work Financial wise?

Because we don't want them to go and can stop them from leaving.

It makes even less sense than California and NY leaving the USA. Catalonia accounts for about 18% of the national GDP but a larger portion of the national debt. Independent Catalonia would be viable if Spain paid off Catalan debt. (spoiler: we won't)

See but it's a lot bigger than California or New York leaving if California or New York left the US would be alright because they don't pay 18% of the bills. Plus I don't know about the constitution of Spain but our constitution allows any state the right to leave as long as it's approved by their state congress but no state would ever want to because obvious reasons where as in Spain's case I could see why Catalonia wants to leave Spain as a country, Spain is one of Europe's sickman much like Greece except not as bad granted.

Nobody gave a fuck.

Catalonia is Iberian, INDEPENDENCE IS ANTI IBERIC AND ANTI FREEDOM AND WILK NOT BE TOLERATED!! RUSSIAN AGENTS!!

That's because Texas secession would be unpopular basically that movement is a waste of time because the government knows is going to be unpopular

Again there's this whole you would have to get approval from the state meme which they wont get. The secession was approved by Catalonia Congress.

Yeah, after breaking the Catalonian parlament rules.

Catalans feared the tercio warrior.

Read the article. Regardless of state congress votes, the White House explicitly stated that unilateral secession from the USA is unconstitutional. It's not different from other constitutional democracies, including Spain. A people has the right to self-determination and unilateral secession if:

1) it's a colony (see: Algeria)
2) it's part of a federation that agrees to dissolve (see: Serbia & Montenegro)
3) it's suffering from extreme oppression or genocide (see: Western Sahara, South Sudan, East Timor)
4) (debatable) it's not represented in national institutions (see: Kosovo, unrecognised by the UN and half of the world)

Catalonia is not a colony, part of a federation, the victim of inhuman oppression, or unrepresented in the Spanish parliament and senate. So you cannot become an independent country based on "muh feelings" or "muh taxes".

Weak "leader"

Technically, Algeria wasn't even a colony like Indochina used to be but a full set of départements. That's why things got so ugly there.

...

heh
no

Based catalonian, I hate you but I unironically support you, NEED Europe to balkanize, crash and burn ASAP

I know that feeling all to well

fpbp

>hey we are independent
>spain: lmao no man chill
>no really
>nah
>ok

What do you hope to gain from this?

Catalonia wants independence without violence. That's what went wrong.

Probably a rich borugeoise commie that wants white men to pay for their crimes

But we don't really want to hurt our autistic catalan brothers

Catalans should realise that, very rarely do people become independent without the use of force and violence.

Catalonia is truly like america.

I work in a fruit store and some woman who used to come every morning to do her groceries talks to me about the master play of Puigdemont in Brussels, I try to bait her into conversation because she is elderly and her family ignores her and most of her friends are either dead or senile.

>Did you know about the great strategy of Carles?
>No I don't Berta mind to explain it to me?
>The she chimped out about the 78' regime oppression and the systematical genocide of Catalan culture and left the store without buying anything.

About ~65% of Barcelona has this mindset, and the rest we just don't give a fuck.

>puidgemont sounds like dick demon in greek

In the north of Spain, around the Basque Country, the tradition for groups of male friends crawling pubs and drinking a short glass of wine at each pub, and often singing traditional songs, is known as txikiteo or chiquiteo, and can be held at night or day. By the end of the 20th century, it was extended also to women, and when it involves a wider variety of drinks, it is more often called poteo.
